Something along the lines of MEV bots, github included https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/in-the-battle-of-the-mev-bots-apebot-bows-out.364872/
interesting but that is a legit bot. I was interested in the eth hack. maybe will show up on phrack someday
Yes there are a lot of technical details within the official court document i linked here. Point 26 explains they found an exploit inside the MEV Boost program. Id argue heavily that they didnt steal anything, MEV is MEV, blockchain is the wild west, almost all MEV is using some sort of exploit or edge. Why did they go to jail? Because they made multiple companies and tried to launder the money. If they just made a real company, paid correct taxes, i doubt anything would have happened. Set up a bunch of validators on chain Their validator got selected to validate a new block They send out eight "lure" transactions, that they new MEV players would take to bundle in their dirty MEV attacks They used an exploit on the MEV Boost program in order to deanonymise the private bundle their validator received, Swapped our their "Lure" txs with "Tampered" txs, rebuilt the block. Causing the sandwich attack by the MEV bots to fail Before exploit: MEV Front Run -> LURE Transaction -> MEV Backrun After exploit: MEV Front Run -> TAMPERED Transaction -> MEV Backrun (fails to backrun) Publish the re-ordered block on the blockchain. Quote, "sending the Relay a false signature (the "False Signature")...the information contained ni the False Signature could not be verified.. this False Signature.. trick the Relay ot prematurely release the full content of the proposed block..including the private transaction information" The MEV bot that got attacked was annoyed, as was the ETH foundation. The kids exploited the MEV Boost which is used by like 80%+ of validators. Essentially a huge zero day that would break the dirty MEV market. The "victim"s lawyer and Ethereum asked for the money back, the boys refused which is fair game. They told the FEDs and this is where they are at now. MEV bots operators are greedy AF, likely it was a big operator that went after them. They cry when they loose like babies. What a joke, these kids should be praised. They shouldnt have tried to launder their money, their greed was their downfall.
So, crypto is not infallible? Who'd have known? In the UK our post offices had ' infallible' software that destroyed >1,000 lives
