ETF options

  1. Does anyone know why, over the last few months, the exchanges have been offering options on some of the lower volume ETFs (e.g. Vanguard, Rydex)? Open interest is miniscule in most of the series that have been listed so far.

Usually the option exchanges are reluctant to list contracts on low volume stocks. I am wondering what has changed, and will we later see many of these contracts delisted because of low option volume.
