It is a fact that really deep thought is followed by a smiley face... Immanuel Kant drew smiley faces on every page he was writing when he penned his treatise on the moral imperative... Sadly, the printers of those days did not have emoticons at their disposal, so we all missed out on the true light hearted and light headed works of Kant... Seriously, Yannis is a loon...he could post something like: "Goddamn liberal scum, I hope they all suffer a miserable death from brain cancer. Have a nice day!
I've never posted anything that grotesque -- you did -- which makes YOU a loon! Btw, I vacation up in New Hampshire every year near a great little lake and happen to like loons. I like emoticons too
And another thing which has been mentioned here at ET many times: When liberals disagree with you but cannot reasonably convince anyone that they are right, they attack you personally, they way you write or express yourself... claiming that you are mean and stupid and employ hate speech... just to cover their own faults and shortcomings. Same here, unfortunately. Bottom line, who cares. On the other hand, being called a loon was the high mark in my day, in this terrible market that refuses to drop enough for me to cover my shorts profitably, what can I say?
I travel quite a bit and work with all kinds of people and you know what, I can't tell from talking to them or looking at how they live, what kind of job or business they have or any other indication if they are republican or democrat, unless the conversation turns political. I don't think there is that much of a difference. We all work hard and try to save and want a good life for our families. If it wasn't for 24/7 TV politics and radio politics there wouldn't be this much of a fuss about our differences in opinions of how to run our country. The results both sides want is pretty much the same a safe prosperous free country.
Couldn't have said it better myself, I totally agree. It's an exercise I used to do with my two children (now 16 and 20 yo) putting a cereal box in the middle of the table while sitting at opposite sides, and describing what we saw to each other, arguing our position on the basis of the "real facts" we each had, etc. It was a great tool in understanding someone else's perspective, lots of fun when you like, trust and love the other person. Yet, life plays a little different game, a lot more serious and sometimes deadly. My family came from Greece (I was 18 months old when we arrived at Watertown, NY, where my father was a priest) and what I see happening there now saddens me very deeply. Spain and Portugal, Ireland and italy may be next. I really, really hope this country doesn't follow suit.
For a supposed "Conservative", You sure cut 'n paste verbose nonsense very liberally. What's fascinating is none of you are able to argue a point with your own ideas. Using the term shit-for-brains to describe your mental abilities makes shit look bad.
it ain't about "dividing wealth". It's all about flattening out the opportunity curve so everyone has the same opportunity to succeed. Most of you people love Ayn Rand. Yet she was an Idiot. Kinda like why we're up shit-creek because all the "well edumacated" free capitalists took her works to heart and deregulated everything. They now find out the reality is diametrically opposite to Ayn Rands Utopian verbose garbage. Again. It ain't about "dividing wealth". It's about equal opportunity so the best and brightest can succeed regardless of what their relative position is in society. Some of the most free capitalist markets are found in third world countries. No taxes, No govt. No regulation. And that's why these countries will always remain third world. Only the elite have the connections to engage in abusive capitalistic practices like food hoarding and they own all the monopolies. I suggest you people should move to Somalia and open a Dairy farm. You'll make lot's of money by mixing water with the milk you sell. If someone complains just shoot the person. Unbridled greed. The guy with the most guns owns the law. Welcome to your version of utopia. No govt. The most Free markets. Do what you please.
I live in the States, which was founded on capitalism and has thrived on capitalism, you live in Canada, who the fuck are you to tell me to move, so that you and all your dead beat welfare loving socialist buddies can come move in and live off the government? Or better yet why dont you just stay in Canada and quit posting all this non sense about the states like you actually have any clue what is going on? How is the fantasy energy consulting business going? Did you manage to gas your parents car up a couple cents a litre cheaper, and get your allowance for the week?
