ET Poker Game

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Error 404, Feb 13, 2004.

1. We should have an ET poker game on line....just for fun. Play money.

Anyone know if there's a way to create a room at a poker site and reserve the seats? We could have a few tables of regulars from here .

Imagine how much fun Maverick would have if he found out I was pulling for an inside straight. The ball busting would be great.

Or DanielM just beating me. His rubbing the salt in would be the kind of amusement most people pay for.

Table kibbitzing: Imagine MrSub going at it with Aphie. Reardon with BobCathy (laughing just thinking about that one).

Nitro losing with a pat full boat to Gordon Gekko who pulls four of a kind going in with a pair of fours. (Probably would happen the the very first hand...LOL)

Anyone interested? Anyone interested who knows how to set it up?

Peace,
:)RS

Great idea, I'm in.

Do you want to use somehting like Yahoo games or Partypoker.com?

3. yeah, whatever works....i only used pokerroom.com, but have no idea how to set up private tables

4. Great idea - count me in. Hopefully the logistics of setting it up aren't too complicated.

5. you would have to be in.......we need a voice of reason in the game

6. I'll kick all your asses!

7. I play poker online for money every day, and setting up an ET poker game in the manner you described would be very easy.
In fact, I could probably even get us a private, password protected tournament on pokerstars, if more than 10 of us are interested. That way there would emerge a clear #1.

My suggestion: No limit hold 'em, Symbolic buy in of only $30-$50, to be played some weeknight this week. Let me know if you guys want this set up...

8. Aphie....We all assumed that long before we even were aware we assumed that!

I vote for Reardon to be the "Commissioner of Poker" :)

If you can do it, let us know how we can all participate. I was thinking more an open ongoing game 24/7 (play money...but limited by the day as to buying in. Tap out, you are out for the day). We could all sit in as seats are available. Probably need more than one table.....not sure how these things work as far as set-up. I have noticed that at certain tables on Pokerroom.com, if you go to some mostly empty tables, you can't sit in, 'cause the seats are "reserved", so I assume they are private (like we would want) games for a regular bunch of players.

A tournament would be fun too. Maybe have a regular ongoing game (play money), and a once a week tournament like you suggested with low enough limits no one would could get hurt. I think if we play amongst ourselves it should be more for amusement (and ego) than for money. We have guys here that are wealthy, and guys that are struggling and living with their parents. A level playing field seems like more fun. Play for real money, and the scared money guys will always play too tight, and the guys who the money means nothing to will tend to throw money at the game....which turns the game from skill to a pushing match. And I guess with a real money game, you can't stop guys from re-buys. With play money I know you can...at least on pokerroom.com, which is the only site I have played on.

Whatever you (or anyone) can devise that would suit our needs. Of course, Reardon, you could set up something, then it could evolve if we saw a better way. But getting off the ground would be great. AAA or Maverick can always call for your impeachment if someone comes up with a better format:) Or more likely if you get caught diddling one of the virtual cocktail waitresses (which we know Longshot will be devoting his virtual time to).

So far, this thread has not had too many views, and we have four or five definites already it seems. Could be a lot of fun. We MUST have a chat availability. Ball busting is crucial for a good game. Imagine Baron and Fasterpussycat going at one another. Stuff like that.

Peace,
:)RS

9. OK, just looked it up. Private play money tables are not available at any of the big four (Party, Pokerstars, Ultimate Bet, Paradise). Private cash games are easy to set up on party for stakes as low as .50/$1. Limit poker only, no NL though.

I know the bosses at Stars personally, so I could probably arrange a private, password protected tournament there.
I'm thinking this Thursday night, 8 PM Eastern/7 PM Central.
They'd probably agree to a $50 buy in + $5 juice deal. $30+3 is pushing it, but they might even agree to that. I suggest a no rebuy tournament, so it will be very clear who the winner is.
It won't be 'winner take all', but a standard poker tournament payout schedule with the top few places paying on a graduating scale. (if under 27 players, top 3 places pay 50%, 30%, 20% respectively. If 28-45 players, 5 places pay 40%, 24%, 16%, 12%, 8%...)

Depositing funds to a poker site can be tricky, but anybody with paypal could paypal me the entry fee, which I'd transfer for them to use on stars. I'll post a poll now to guage interest...

10. BTW, the chat option is a standard on all poker sites.
