You’ve asked a lot of questions. We’ve even PMed about options trading. Glad to see how ungrateful you are to this site for getting the answers you needed.
I have learned a lot from long-term posters on trader forums, though the proportion of gems posted is low, and the learning curve flattens out as you gain experience. I double up on this by posting my own tactics or potential tactics, and these same guys come back and tell me usually its not a terrible terrible idea but it could be improved - and that leads me towards improvement. Sometimes I answer newbie questions, usually I don't, due to time constraints. But then again, some of the newbie queries have prompted me to review old ground, so this is healthy. If you're interested in improving your trading and trading outcomes, regardless of your expertise, a trader forum is a great value resource.
IMHO social media, like Twitter, FB, Snapchat, Whatsapp... is for marginal and/or brainless people. Why share all you do with other, mostly people you don't know? Privacy is a word that marginal and/or brainless people don't know and don't care about.
If you do that, you end up with so many on ignore that you can't follow a thread thought. I'm probably on more ignore lists than any other. For one, I'm a patriot... I hate Lefties/Commies/DemoCraps in America trying to destroy our country. For another, I offend people when I bring to their attention some of their "notions" about trading and the markets are wrong. That isn't meant to be pontificating... just "shining the light" for all to see and consider. People cling to trading ideas like they do religion... disagreeing with them makes for a tough and hostile argument.
So far not a problem for me, but I only have two on ignore at the moment, and neither were even talking about trading.
I do disagree with the last two posts. I want people on a forum to disagree with things I say, and I want to hear what they have to say about why and what I should be doing instead. I don't filter out posts from inexperienced traders. Even when posters are wrong, through inexperience, mistaken biases or honest misunderstanding of what I've posted, what they say stimulates some review and reflection in my mind, and this is beneficial for my overall approach. I think I have only ever ignored two or three posters on any forum, nobody on ET.
