You know what might actually be helpful IMHO... in addition to being able to block/ignore users, one should be able to completely block/ignore threads. I don't think this functionality exists. I understand that threads don't need to be subscribed to. However, my reasoning is that conversation in a thread often starts out sincerely. But after a while, for whatever reason, everything turns south yet the thread continues to show in the weekly most active and recent replies list. By allowing users to block the threads from showing in those lists, the forum would be self moderated to a much larger degree.
What are you saying??? That we are not professional enough to have a chat like those "professional" firms or trading services?? I will tell you honestly, @wrbtrader, I have been to those "professional" trading chat rooms. They are either empty with nobody participating or extremely chaotic with huge lags when they are packed that you can barely read the trade setup or trading play that the room leader is calling out. All it takes is just one troll that spams the chat and the whole chat room is spoiled and the chat room leader is often too busy or doesn't bother to moderate the room to kick out the troll(s). They are no better. I have been on stocktwits and it's not better either. The maturity level is appalling. You barely get any good ideas. Twitter is even worse. You lose track of the conversation very quickly and you don't even know where the thread is ending up or to whom you are responding. Why do you think I keep coming back to here? LOL No I think what everybody is proposing is a private invitation-only chat facility where a group of people can go to to have conversations with instant feedback in real-time about a focused topic from time to time so that way they can have productive discussions and with the chat room organizers having the ability to kick out idiots via IP address, they can do so without the distraction of the trolls. No more putting them on "Ignore" and blocking them, they will simply be gone! LOL @Overnight doesn't like people getting blocked so we will just kick them out instead. There, no more interruption of conversation flow. LOL The forum can still be there where we can have general discussions and/or invite people for chats. Now I see people go to the forum to invite people for chats and they have to go to other sites, other chat facilities to have the chat, why not host these chats here? This chat room would be especially useful to be used in conjunction with the "Journal" thread where people are post their trading entries but can also share them with others in realtime and get realtime feedback.
1) Baron is not going to start another chat, probably for the same reason he killed the first chat. C'mon, ppl. Critical thinking. 2) You can start a PM-group (add members) and chat in real-time through the private-thread feature on ET. Works fine. Leave the PM-window open and have at it. You choose who's added. Delete a user if it goes to sht and start over. Inbox -> start a new private thread -> participant(s)
