ET a very good website. What are some of the other websites where traders can post?

The cooperation between the two still exist. Simply, if I type "Emini ES futures" on twitter...it will not show up on stocktwits. Yet, if I type the exact same on stocktwits...it will show up on twitter but not on twitter.

In contrast, if I type "$ES_F"on twitter...it will show up on stocktwits and twitter. Thus, maybe we're both right unless you're talking about something else.

Both twitter and stocktwits have garbage just like any other social trader network (e.g. Elitetrader.com forum). You can choose to engage or get upset about the garbage or ignore it.

The plus is that you can easily just "follow" ONLY those you're interested in on twitter or stocktwits...very easy to do and neither has an advantage over the other except when it comes to mobile application...twitter has the big advantage there because its integrated in most other social networks while stocktwits got rid of its dedicated mobile app.

  2. Nope. I've just tried it. Messages are sent from StockTwits to a linked Twitter account, but not vice versa.

They've sent a message regarding this on March 1 and a few weeks before that to every user:

    *********

    Dear StockTwits Member,

This email contains an important product announcement that impacts your StockTwits account.

Effective today, March 1, you will no longer be able to post to your StockTwits account via Twitter by including a $TICKER or $$ in your message. All messages you want to share on StockTwits need to be posted directly to StockTwits at StockTwits.com, using our browser extensions or API partners.

We continue to work with Twitter in other ways, you can still automatically send messages you share on StockTwits to your linked Twitter account (or your linked Facebook and LinkedIn accounts).

Much has been written over the last several months about how Twitter has changed their developer rules and, like many other developers, these new rules have forced us to make changes in order to continue to deliver a great experience to you and all of our users.

We know this changes the way some of our members use our service - since we announced this change earlier this year we have helped many members set up tools like our Chrome or Firefox Browser Extensions or our HootSuite plug in to minimize any impact on the way they work, while ensuring their best stock and market ideas continue to be seen on StockTwits.

If you have any questions or we can help you please email us at support@stocktwits.com or contact any team member on StockTwits.

    Sincerely,

    StockTwits

Yes, I'm aware of the message but I think that's for those using website browser.

It's not the same for the app and I don't know why. I primary use both through apps...not browser and stocktwits no longer supports its own app (got rid of it) but if you had the old one...it still works with a little modification. Thus, I'm still able to send $ symbol through twitter and have it show up on stocktwits.

Maybe that soon too will not work.

P.S. I never tried the double $$ symbol. Only the $ on apps.

  4. Ah... okay... that's possible. I've used the website (also with one $ sign only).

I'm not sure why stocktwits has ended the cooperation with twitter (maybe twitter was charging too much money although stocktwits blames twitter "developer rules"), why they ended support of their beta apps and other issues but it seems like they're isolating themselves. I also notice web base api's started having problems with stocktwits...maybe they've pulled support on those too.

Most of the folks I follow on stocktwits had arrived there because of twitter. Thus, will be interesting to see if new users to stocktwits slows in comparison to when they were working with twitter.

Seems like stocktwits was embracing technology of today and now seem like they're going backwards unless they got some big plans involving social media for traders that will soon be release.

P.S. I just started using Hootsuite as of two days ago. I'll check out how it works with stocktwits since they say they now partner with Hootsuite.

  7. Hootsuite seems to be a great idea... so many social networks etc. one is part of. Will check it out as well sooner or later.

  8. I use Hootsuite every day. Nice and can run inside your browser so it's always with you.

  9. Most of these guys are stinking self-promoters. That's why they are on Twitter, some hours at a time. Traders trade, BS artists hang out on Twitter. Simple as that.

I noticed the first guy on this list has over 10,000 followers. He is also a regular at BMT forum, which is a red flag if you ask me. Out of these 10 K, how many of them are fake? I think it's a safe bet it's at least 50%.

I follow only one site on Twitter, tradingloonies. They have nothing to sell, unlike most of these guys.

I recently made a switch to http://investfeed.com which just recently launched. Not many peeps there yet but the conversations are professional and it's good for specific questions/answers. Always stopping back here to see what's new as well.
