i downloaded today the new version of eSignal. (7.1 beta release Candidate) Very good new features! 1. In the Oderdesk for IB however the possibility of the Trailing stop and the modification of the stop course is missing. Does one have to then input this Orders directly over the TWS Would be very pedantic, since the advantage of the integrated Traiding would then be omitted. 2. We try its Backtesting/Strategy performance. Here the following is noticeable: as Futures Trader we became gladly by the input of points and appropriate equivalents in â¬/$ (f. example DAX: 1 point = 25 â¬) these results test together (profit/Loss) and in separate columns to add leave, so that one receives a result in â¬/to $ and points. Equally we would like one day to exactly lock (Day trade) without resuming Overnight trades. These inputs are however not possible at present. Will it give a solution?? We would be very grateful.
I am currently using dsl on a fast comp. Instead of getting another dsl line would it be better if I got another comp, and got a router. I am not familiar with routers and what they can do, but from what I have heard it seems like something I could use. Heres the problem, esignal has become very data intensive, and so is my trading software, I presume if I have 1 computer running each maybe there wiil be less lag or freeze with the charts. Heres another issue, I am running a matrox quad card 4 monitors, what type of vid card would I need for the second computer? I know this is a little OT but I am sure there are others who have done this, or even if the esignal people could give assisstance that would be great. So basically the question is, if I have 1 superfast comp dedicated to esignal would it make a difference, or should I get another line...btw I also have cable but its for backup. I could use some good advice on this one. Thank you. Later
Feature that enables to import historical data (for example 1min of the past hour) via dde into excel. Like qcharts offers. This would enable me to use many technical tools in real time for excel.
cartm - I believe that if you want to run eSignal into more than one computer at a time, you'll need (and pay for) more than one eSignal account. So assuming that's correct, you might want to decide whether you want to pay for two datafeed accounts first before trying to decide about physical setup changes like multiple lines, etc. Because if you don't want to pay eSignal double, your best course is probably just an upgrade to your existing PC. On the upgrade, if you're running real CPU hoggish software (which if the new eSignal software is anything like the programmer's Ravenquote stuff might be the case), you might consider a dual CPU PC. However, just using a hot CPU box should take care of any overload you're experiencing (unless you're physically exhausting the bandwidth of your DSL anyway). Example - since you've already got the quad video card and monitors, you can get a 2.8GHz P4 system, 512Mb RAM, 80 GB disk, etc. from Dell for under $1700 - which depending on which eSignal plan you're using is less than one year of a second eSignal account. Also, if you're not running Windows 2000 or XP, you might try doing that upgrade first to see if it helps with your system performance - W9x isn't suited to doing high resource demand jobs.
sorry, it may be discussed before in those 25 pages, but my question is could we get the open interest with E-signal? TIA Cheers!!
Do you plan to add quotesheet programming (as Ravenquote, with maybe graph plug-in cell or something as QuoteTracker where you could watch 1 min. graph)? Add a better support for IB with direct ECN route and IOC order?
Just so everyone knows what is in the final eSignal 7.1, here is the features page and where it can be downloaded: http://www.esignal.com/esignal/features/default.asp This version includes Back Testing, Advanced Tick Charts, File Sharing ( http://www.eSignalCentral.com ), and Integrated Trading with Cybertrader and Interactive Brokers. We don't have a hard list to post publicly just yet. We are working on multiple projects at the same time and its not clear which will be included or not. The things we are most focused on are data types as a number of things are going on in that area currently. They are support for SuperMontage, direct connections to the major ECNs, Single Stock Futures, and enhanced Market Depth Window (Level II). Also we have heard loud and clear for easier to use drawing tools and a new version of those will be included in a first early beta. We will also be doing more with http://www.eSignalCentral.com as a learning site and sharing tools with an enhanced ability to chat and share charts and files (EFS studies ) among users. We will probably post a list in a few weeks. Chuck @eSignal
It would be great if there were some way to print the reports and graphs in the back testing module. Am I missing something simple?
One thing I would like to see is the ability to enter trades manually into the paper trading execution log and have the ability for charts to put some marker on a chart for each buy and sell in the log. The reason to allow manually entering the trades is to make it easy to go back over a day of real trading and get a new perspective on what you did. Heck, importing IB's daily execution reports could save a step.
