what the f%$$ck is up with esignal today...maybe it's the beta i downloaded yesterday, but yesterday it was fine, quicker than the regular version. anytime i put any trendlines or more than 3 formula studies on a chart, the friggin thing slows down to a crawl, lagging like crazy. it was fine until today. i even reinstalled, but still it's slow as shit. i scroll a chart a little bit, and it FREEZES for like 5sec until it reloads it....this is complete bullshit - can someone tell me if i am missing anything, or should they switch the name to E-snail...
No other reports I'm aware of but it is possible it's related to the beta. Please send as many specifics as possible ( PC specs, OS, etc ) to beta@esignal.com so we can try to duplicate. If you'd prefer to go back to 7.02 and you need assistance, please call us at 1-800-762-7538. Thanks,
Hi, The odd thing is that it seems better now, pretty much normal like it was yesterday when I first installed it. (It's 9pm EST now). The problems I was having were specifically due to charts that either had alot of rays drawn on them, or had more than a couple of formulas - just the canned pivots and OHLC formulas - nothing fancy. The charts that were basically empty except for volume did not lag. Could the problems I was having today during the mkt hours be related to ES servers?? Or net congestion?? Are there settings regarding frequency of data downloads, or something like that?? I remember ensign used to have a similar thing - you'd have a choice about keeping tick servers active or not, and during mkt hours you wanted to keep them off, otherwise they'd try to keep refeshing charts...and the lags would make you nuts and kill the performance of the whole program... The thing that's odd is that you wouldn't think it's related to the net at all since it has to do with the drawing formulas, but like I said, I'm not having any trouble scrolling through a chart with lots of stuff on it right now, and that's exactly the problem I was having during the daytime today - anytime I'd scroll a chart around, or move a chart within the layout to another location, or resize a chart, the thing would come to a halt for a few seconds. It was driving me insane, so any ideas on what I could do from my end?? PS - sorry I was bitching so much earlier - I go insane when I have software problems and am trying to move stock around... What are the formula engine settings for - heap and stack size? Mine are set to 16384 and 8, respectively.
Excellent product but the inability to link just one set of items drives me crazy sometimes, especially in a fast moving market where i need to change charts and t&s constantly. Examples of a good linking feature would be found in realtick and AT Attitude. Thanks.
Glad to hear the situation is better. I agree that it doesn't really sound like internet congestion, more like CPU drain. If the problems re-surface, please try our latest beta version and see if it makes a difference. You can register and download the beta here: http://www.esignal.com/beta_71 Those two formula engine settings allow you to set the memory allocation. If you are seeing crashes or weird results, you could experiment by increasing those values. Hope that helps! Thanks,
Thanks for the feedback. Have you tried setting up the various windows you want ( T&S, charts, etc ) and making sure the linking button was on for each? If you then link to the quote window cursor, every symbol you click on in a quote window will then update in every linked window. To read more about Linking windows, here's the latest pdf version of the eSignal manual: http://www.esignal.com/esignal/features/manual.asp If you would prefer some help linking windows, feel free to give us a call at 1-800-762-7538 and we'lll be glad to help. If you feel you've used our linking tools to the max capability and still wish we could enhance that functionality, please send as specific a request as you can to ideas@esignal.com and our Product Management team will review. Thanks for choosing eSignal!
eSignal Support: I'm thinking of getting eSignal b/c it looks like a cool product. But before I do that I want to make sure if it has historical intraday data??? And how far back does it goes? Let's say all the stocks in sp500,naz100,djia,russell2000,etc. all the popular indices going back at least 1yr at 1min and 5min interval?? thanks! -99
eSignal currently provides 60 days ( roughly 3 months ) of interval intraday history and the previous 10 days of tick or time and sales data. We have been saving additional intraday data since January of this year so we can eventually expand our intraday history up to a year. We are still working on that expansion project and don't have a specific ETA at this time. We do have several promotions going right now and, as always, we offer a 30 day trial. Call us for more information: Sales in the US: (800) 815-8256. Sales in Europe: +44 (0)20 7825 8770. Give us a try! Thanks,
Installed it but crashes as soon as my layout gets loaded . Wish it would work since it has some backtesting abilities. Got an ETA on the final 7.1?:
