valid point spike, but what if youre data provider is costing you more money out of missed opportunities and you can also get better feeds cheaper - then you win on saved data costs and make money on better trade opportunities. double whammy!

interesting that you dont have any issues with esignal (not saying you should!!) - but when some people do, and others dont, it does look like it could either be

    1/ the isp

2/ the esignal server you are connected to (maybe??)

  2. ISP: i have a cable connection, it almost never goes down (less than 24 hours the last three years), it is very stable and it's fast. I do have a second connection ( ADSL) just in case (costs about 40$ a month).

ESIGNAL: i have realtime feed since 1995 ( forex and afterwards futures) and except a few startup problems in 1995 with forex, the feed has been excellent. As my experience goes over 10 years i think it gives a good idea about the reliability of the feed and about the quality of the ticks. In 1995 i checked the feed against the quotes from Reuters, and the feed was almost identical.
In the last 10 years i missed definitely less than 5 trading days. To me that's acceptable.

About customers support: it was lousy from 1995 till 2002. For real support i had to call the US instead of calling London. Since 2003 London improved and gives now an excellent and fast response to calls( for the rare moments that i need them).

Not saying it applies everywhere, CME seems to be Ok. Though I remember when esig was catching flak over this.

  5. small tip, don't know if relevant to the specific people here, but it's true: if you increased the RWIN setting in Windows's registry, in order to 'speed up' your internet connection, this can cause a severe lag for esignal. make sure RWIN has its default value (around 65000). increasing the RWIN does indeed help speed up loading of web pages. however, apparently esignal doesn't co-operate with the tweaked settings.

I am still having this problem of my headline number disapearing when linked to a advanced chart. Has this problem been fixed. or are there any plans for it to be fixed?

    Quote from gimp570:

    Quote from JayF_eSignal:

After much investigation we were able to track this down. The problem is occurring only for stocks ending in =N (or some other regional extension,) and revolves around having a quote window linked to an advanced chart. If you have =N type symbols in the quote window and click on them, the Bid/Ask blanks out until the next update comes in. If you turn off the symbol linking in the quote window, the problem goes away.

Our developers are actively working on a fix for this problem. I would expect that this will be resolved in the next version of eSignal (7.9.1 is due out at the end of June.)

Well I am using 7.9.1 and it did fix the problem of the quotes disapearing but now the same thing happens with the news number!! is this going to be fixed???

Any fix to this problem...I am still having it....This has been going on for 4 months now and no one seems to give a hoot at esignal.......you guys said the end of june and we are all still waiting

    Hi gimp570,

I have downloaded and installed our latest version of esignal 7.9.1(build732) and have tested a few symbols with the =N and apparently do not see the news headline count disappear nor the bid or ask data. If your not running the same version or the latest build, please feel free to download and install the latest version. This should fix the problem.

    Hi gimp570,

I was able to duplicate the same issue. The bid/ask data seems to be ok now, but when a quote window is linked to an interval advanced chart is when the headline count disappears. Works fine on a daily chart, but a bug with the interval chart. I have forwarded the issue to our programmers and will notify you as soon as I get a reply on this issue.

I do apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience with this issue.

    Thank You

  8. Hi gimp570,

I downloaded and installed our latest 7.9.1build(738) from our www.esignal.com/download page. After further testing, the bug looks to have been fixed. Do not download and install the latest version on top of the older version, but do a complete uninstall. Please follow the steps below to do a complete uninstall of esignal.

    1. Uninstall eSignal from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
    2. Rename the eSignal folder (example: eSignalOld) to backup your layouts and files (after installing it will create a new eSignal folder.)
    3. Click on your windows Start button and goto Search. Search for winsig.ini and winros.ini files and delete these files and send them to the recycle bin.
    4. Download/install the latest version from our download website. www.esignal.com/download.

If your still experiencing the same issue with our new build(738), please feel free to respond to this post.

    Thank you

  9. Esignal has a very uncommercial attitude towards their clients.

I’m client at Esignal since 1995 and never had any problems with them. But things can change.
November 14 I had to make a payment to renew my subscription. I forgot the renewal but remembered it the 12 of November. So I made immediately a wire transfer.
I told Esignal customer services that the wire transfer was made and the money would arrive in the next three days (all previous payments were always in my account at Esignal within 72 hours).
Their only response was that today I was cut off. I’ve never seen a company that reacts in such a way when clients are 48 hours in overdue. Especially not if the client can prove that the payment was made on November 14 and already was deducted from his bank account.

So I decided to leave them as soon as my subscription, that I just paid, ends.
I find their attitude aggressive, repressive and very uncommercial.

I’ve been in business for years and I learned that it takes on average 3 times more energy to replace a lost client than to keep him. That’s why there are in most of the companies “customer support” divisions.

I must admit that I received a mail from Esignal on which I will not respond anymore, because I don’t see the use of reacting:

    Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:

Thank you for contacting the eSignal Service and Support Department. Our records indicate that Heather Holmes was the primary representative who assisted you. Because providing excellent Customer Service is our prime objective, we would greatly appreciate it if you took a few moments to rate your experience with eSignal and, in particular, Heather Holmes.

Please click on the link shown below to complete the short list of questions. It's that easy, and, with only a few moments of your time, you'll be helping us provide the absolute best service possible.

Thank you for your time and assistance.

    Sincerely,

    Scott Johnson
    Vice President, Client Services
    eSignal

Very nice mail, but totally useless. It would be better to listen to clients when they tell something. But that's probably too much asked.
