Ok, I'm not much of a techie, but lets see how good my memory is. Go to:

    1. My Computer
    2. Click on C:drive
    3. Click on Windows folder
    4. Find WinRos file and delete it - This should delete ONLY data manager and not any layouts
    5. Then go to http://www.esignal.com/advancedget/download/more_versions.asp and download the new esignal data manager

    That should do the trick.

I had to watch spy and qqqq on my level 2 today. Unbelievable esignal. Today it wasn't even funny everything was like 5 seconds behind. Felt like I was trading with delayed data.
    Get your shit together.

What Version and Build Number of eSig are you all running.

I was having all kinds of problems with the latest build of version 10 ....... so went back to version 8 yesterday ........ and everything straightened right out. Crossing of fingers.

I'd bail out of eSig in a minute if I could find a package that moves around as smoothly.
The markets are fluid and I figure my charts should be fluid too.......I'm talking about grabbing the background of the chart with the mouse and moving it around......and being able to grab the x and y axis with the mouse and smoothly move it around.......eSig does this in excellent fashion, and I find it so wonderful that I can't see going to another program that doesn't do it.

.... Real Tick was not bad....but I had other problems with them......mainly customer service.
CQG - Almost as fluid as eSig......but not quite.
    TradeStation = terrible.
Sierra Charts......tried them this past weekend.. .....Nope - they aren't fluid either........just the y axis - not the x axis or the background.

I'm probably about the only one that thinks this is so important.......but that's the way it is......I want quick ease of use, cause I draw tons of lines and pitchforks, and am forever moving things around........why fight the damn chart?

Sorry to be so long winded.......but I feel much better now :)

    Regards,
    .

    Zbear,
I have been using ver 8 for awhile after switching back from 10 which was horrible. I didn't trade last week so I can't comment on data delays of last week but today was horendous. I am most likely gonna give esignal a piece of my mind on the phone to a few different reps and then suck it up and pay the $700 a month for cqg.

  5. Im with you ZBear, I really need the charts to be fluid like you mention. I tried out a few others and they werent as smooth and they werent as functionable as Esignal. This damn lagging issue is killing me because I really want to leave esignal but havent found a worthwhile replacement. And I too draw a decent amount and Esignal is great for this as well.

  9. Whatever you do, do not go with eSignal. You will end up realizing that you need to switch, and then the inertia will cause you to put up with the lagging for a few more months.

I presume most of you guys are using the platform. I had an eSignal data only subscription and was feeding Amibroker with it. The quotes were always behind even the IB data I saw displayed in Button Trader. In fast markets, the charts just stopped drawing, and Amibroker is a lightning fast app, it can handle the data with no problem.

eSignal is ridiculously overpriced. In addition, there is no phone support of any kind. If you call them during trading hours (on your own dime, by the way), you will simply be on hold until you give up.

eSignal is always telling us how they are making changes in order to fix their problems. Problem is, the changes never seem to work. They have been making these changes for the past 3 years.

DTN/IQ is no better but it's certainly no worse and it's what, 2/3 the price? Only thing to be careful of with DTN/IQ is that after you cancel they will charge your credit card as much as they possibly can until you blow up at them.

Here is a simple measurement that the guys in our office performed. Here is the formula to calculate the quote delay from e-signal. Its 1s/17.5t. It means that if you happen to have 100 price changes (ticks) a second your lag will be 100*(1/17.5) = 5.7 seconds. Normally, if you have less than 5 ticks per second your quotes appeared to be not delayed because your eyes cannot see the small delay that is less than 0.2 seconds. And you can do nothing about it! It is built in their infrastructure. Switching to different versions and other things that they recommend will not solve the problem. Their infrastructure is not capable of supporting the data flow that is needed no matter what you do! So, don’t waste your time = run, run, run as fast as you can! Do not get seduced with their promises and their stupid advertisement on CNBC. They are dead! I did not kill them, you did not kill them! They were dead before we opened accounts with them and by now the corps started to stink!
