Yeah, and by not getting on here and dealing with the problem, this little thread - that is already 21 pages long....... is making any new potential customers ....(that haunt this site).....verrry leery. Whats that cost them? Smart Business model eSig !!! Guess this is our sweet revenge on their reprehensible attitude.
BINGO ! This would account for the attitude towards the smaller traders and the fact is they have a ton of institutional business to keep them profitable. We're like gnats to them.
Well I cancelled esignal yesterday after being a customer for 4 years. I was paying $370 a month for all the exchanges I needed. The rep told me yesterday that I had a lower rate and that if I came back in the future it would be higher. I told him that the problems over the last 2 weeks have been unacceptable and that if they ever fixed their product and felt good about it again to email me and I would reconsider. I am now learning cqg software now and to be honest esignals software and the ability to make a layout "pretty" is better than cqg. It will probably take me a few weeks to get cqg to look like the esignal layout that I have been staring at for the last 4 years. My price for everything I need on cqg is $780 a month. It hurts but I think in the long run its worth it.
I don't think they have much institutional business at all. The commercials they run are geared towards retail traders. Almost all institutions to my knowledge use reuters or bloomberg and alot of them are now using the superfast, super expensive data feeds like radez and activ.
Qcharts was probably the worst data feed ever foisted on retail traders. The data was routinely 5-10 mins behind on some days. I quit them 7 years ago. I found Esig to be just about as bad. After Esig I went to Tradestation for charts. I have used IB since it first came out. They say TS lags too but I have never noticed any difference between them and IB. If anything TS seems to be a tick or two faster. Maybe because of the way IB puts out data using 200ms snapshots of the market. Add 200ms to 200ms latency in the internet and you can't get out of 1/2 sec delays in IB. So if TS is matching IB then its probably 1/2 behind too. I also have a very streamline desktop with only a few charts or so at the most at any given time. Since I only trade ES I don't use the Radarsceen. John
Try MarketDelta with CQG. You can get all your layouts that way. I'm not a fan of the software. But I am wondering if CQG is acceptable, then.
What we should do is organize ourselves as an eSignal users group...like the fingers of a fist, nominate a Technical Committee and take our grievances to a specific contact at the firm.
. ANVIL, I think that's a good idea..... but who's going to do it. I don't have the time. Maybe someone somewhere does. I wonder how many ET members use eSignal. You could probably get most of us on board. Then go to Money Tec.... get some more. etc. Maybe a class action lawsuit for "negligence" Har Har. .
CQG provides access to various levels of tick data. The premium packages go as deep as 7 years of tick data accross all markets. Custom indicators, conditions and custom studies can be built by the users using a simple to learn CQG language or with the help of CQG support personnel. Don't be afraid, give them a call and you will get assistance you may need. Do you need any additional info on CQG?
