Will there be upgrades to the Alerts in 8.0 and 8.1. Currnetly when custom multiple .wav files go off they interupt each other. If you do too many the alert box freezes and you have to restart the program. The current Alert box that pops up is not robust and is hard to read when multiple alerts are going off. Will these issues be addressed? It wold be nice to have Previous day alert (L1) for previous day high and lows as well as a option in the "other" alerts tab.

Yes, I am just not sure what hte other optiosn are. I assume Tradestation..but I know of no other for the ProTrader, even my Thomson One doe snot have the customization options and studies a pro-trader needs. Very frusterating indeed!

All of these "McDonalds" data providers are crap...don't rely on them if you are a pro trader. [/B][/QUOTE]

You are exactly right about that Mogul - so many times multiple morning alerts crash the program. I finally unchecked the 'Pop Up Alert' box - that helps. Instead I watch the Ticker Alert window (which they won't color so you know if it was a high or low alert), but at least the program doesn't lock up.

I have specifically asked many times in the last 2 years for a previous-day-high/low alert. Resetting them manually every night takes so much time that could better be spent looking for setups. Then the manual alerts could be used for better purposes (ie price falling to 50MA or rising to a recent high) The programming structure is in place already that changes the text color in the high/low quote columns for new 52 week highs/lows - how hard can it be for a similar color change to occur based on yesterdays high/low?

After setting the yesterday-high/low alerts the night before, it is only more frustrating the next morning when only one side of an alert can be reset for what is gapping pre-market.

So many trading strategies are based on breaking yesterdays high or low. This simple improvement would help stock (and other) traders so much.

I can only conclude THEY JUST DON'T CARE about individual traders. Our subscription fees are just nice extras, it seems. Instead they focus on what their bigger money clients and potential new clients want (forex, foreign markets, futures and options). We U.S. equity traders are at the bottom of the eSignal priority list, as can be seen by where improvements have been made in the last year, and by the improvements in the upcoming new 8 series releases.

(And yet I see complaints here by non-equity traders, so maybe eSignal is pleasing nobody).

Why do I take the time to write these notes here, and in the eSignal forum? Because I've thought it might shame eSignal into making at least some improvements. But seeing the lack of useful improvements in this new 8 series release I think will be the final straw for me. Even a dog won't come back after its been kicked enough times.

  4. I'm torn here. I use esignal and would like to see continued improvements for the individual trader, but also own quite a bit of their stock. From a business standpoint, I'm glad they're spending their time developing to the bigger clients and going after the global market.

Paul, No reason to be torn. If you believe their large clients are the majority of their revenue, and that they can/will continue to please the large clients, then own the stock.

If you also believe the large clients have different needs than you (a smaller client I assume) and that resources are not or will not be made available to meet your needs, then don't use the product.

Whether the company does well, and whether you do well using their product is two different things.

    Thanks Dave:

Do you know of any softeare that does have teh provious day hi/low alerts that can also do individual .wav file alerts per symbol? I need to investigate Tradestation...I just hate how they do not have a trial. I would really appreciate your feedback if you know of software that can help us with this, as it is so important for all teh reasons you mentioned.

    -Thanks,

    -Mogul

Will current EFS studies be compatible with the subject upgrades?

  8. Hate to bring this thread back to life, but eSignal leaves me no choice... quote from their message board:

Here are the contents of the post:
It's close.... but there are more bugs discovered.

Notice that they say "at the very least".... notice how they provide their customers with the very least effort..... BS

Tomorrows (todays) new release date likely will be missed again.

I could laugh, I could joke, I could insult, I could do all of that. But I will just let others know how pathetic this company is.

I just really feel that I have to inform the wonderful customers *me included* and future customers of eSignal to know that there is once again a delay, and while eSignal is sitting down counting their money, I laugh at how pathetic they really are. Their downfall as a company is clear.

I'm to my limit with this crap eSignal, you really are a horrible company, STOP TELLING US DATES IF YOU ARE JUST GOING TO IGNORE THEM.

I have been waiting to see if I should switch to ProphetX and this crap is pissing me off with all these delays. I have had as much patience as possible.

But if there is a single soul that comes in here and tells me I have been wrong about this company you deserve to have a title of "IDIOT".

But here I am, paying for another month of service of this crap just to see if eSignal 8 is worth anything.......waiting through all these delays. I guess next friday.... as usual. Again, eSignal proves it themselves why they deserve no new customers.

GOOD JOB ESIGNAL, TOP NOTCH EFFORT!!!

I'd like to thank J_Medved and the guys at IQ that work hard to make improvements as I have been PM'ing IQFeed about my issues with eSignal and about ways to improve ProphetX and those guys already implemented features I requested. J_Medved I know takes pride in Quotetracker and they update the program regularly. I will soon be moving my data feed and charting needs to one of you two. I appreciate the effort you put in and how badly you show eSignal really is.

I don't care what anyone else says about me talking trash about eSignal, YOU KNOW they deserve it for this kind of treatment. I pay for support and I get none, I pay for software updates and it's been months where simple issues I've had have not gotten fixed.

This company is flat out horrible and the only reason they got me is because of some pretty charts and nice tools, but now this is it. We don't deserve this kind of treatment.

It pisses me off to the ultimate level.

Again, everyone check out ProphetX and/or QuoteTracker with IQFeed, or Ensign, or other options, being overcharged for this software is not right. I'm an idiot for sticking with this company, hopefully others are smarter.

Woohoo, i feel better now. eSignal still ranks as one of the worst companies in the world on my list. I now got it all out, and feel better :D

  9. I know I'm probably egging you on which is the last thing I really want to do, but can you please just leave esignal and go find another vendor to subscribe to, and then complain about them?

I'm very interested in hearing about the positives and negatives for the products I use, but the continuous long rants make me want to leave this board altogether as I can never read a thread about esignal without seeing one of your comments. You're the most vocal about them, yet remain a customer.

For someone who has made nearly 800 posts in only 9 months, I'd think you have better things to do with your time, such as researching replacement products so you can be happy. It's almost as if you're not happy unless you're unhappy. I have a brother like that and it's so darn depressing to be around him.

I'd love to see posts from you telling me about a great replacement for esignal that you really love, and I'd gladly follow you to them. I just don't see that product out there right now, so am happy where I am.

On another note, I doubt that you'd get someone like Microsoft to make quick complete changes to their products either. We wait years between versions and still deal with the limitations or problems inherent with each one, but continue to use them. You need to take the best of the products you use and find ways to make them fit your needs or find another application. There's never going to be a perfect software product. No matter how good they may be, there's always going to be bugs and always room for improvement. I'm more interested in finding ways to make profits using esignal than worrying about when the next version is coming out.

    Have a great weekend :)

Looks like 8.0 in mid May and 8.1 in August to me. Having developed software myself i know that it always takes longer than estimated. I dont know many developers who release their stuff in time.
