More broken promises from esignal. They said the upgrade would come in the middle of the month. We're now at the end of the month and they've come through with nothing. The sound of silence is deafening. In true Esignal style they have once again overpromised and underdelivered. Runningbear
Is it really a shocker. yet on the official eSignal forum, they have a bunch of staff members that gang up on me and tell me how they are a "GOOD COMPANY" and that they are working hard with QA and stuff. TOTAL BS. It's the just the way eSignal operates. I'm waiting for an eSignal rep to pop in here and explain... *cough... make a clever excuse* I'm going to say, it isn't going to happen. But just because I said that, an eSignal rep is going to come back in this room and try and say they are working hard. It's total BS. It's just pushing me more and more towards wanting to switch to ProphetX. It's just pitiful, and they don't even have the brains to come in here and explain why, they just want to make up more BS excuses. I'm sure they will come out with it this Friday though since we are complaining about it again though. It's just freaking pitiful though eSignal, such huge disappointment.
JM' Let me know when you want to 'gang' up on them... as you know i use esignal and am not happy with their single threaded inadequate software and will go one on one with anyone at esignal about it... again eSignals (Chuck's) strategy and his board of directors is to buy out the competition not build high quality craftsman software... again... how a man with that kind of hollow integrity can be happy when they sleep at nite is beyond me... also i tried and completely used their Desktop API and to one and all - that is a POS... again, they do not put quality into their products because their vision is not elegant, efficent or properly structured... ALSO eSig COULD decide to adopt RTD excel updating instead of the COMPLETELY out of date DDE excel updating... RTD is a working model and there are few companies that do it but not eSig... why, cuz... its a question of applied quality and elegant simplicity always lacking in people who don't really care about their work... upfront design is everything in software development and in the development of a company... they are an embarassment... cj... __________________ HAVE STOP - WILL TRADE If You Have The Vision We Have The Code
I love how on their forum they claimed that market data was an EXTREMELY competitive market for them. How they have so much competition........... AND THEN they posted links to where they have won awards *cough... paid for those awards in some way*. It's just flat out hilarious. Then they claim how they have taken over a few of their competitors. I ask for someone on the eSignal forum to claim they like the software, and only one person replied and it was a MODERATOR!!! It's just so damn funny. I also agree with the DDE stuff, it's old, why not change? Their API sucks. They haven't come out with an update for several months now, even for simple but annoying problems. I'm sure for eSignal 8 they are going to have a big promotion. It all sucks, it just ticks me off with a passion, I'd do anything to prevent them from getting new customers until they provide some decent support for their customers, hopefully other users do the same and don't put up with the crap we get, like flat out lies as we were told eSignal 8 would be released.
Such ranting. Just choose another vendor and move on. For some perspective, seen what's going on in Sudan lately? It's called Genocide. Or perhaps in our inner cities? Take that passion you have for a business service and direct it towards something meaningful.
Fair enuff... except I give money to the international red cross and to the Katrina disaster and to the Fireman's Fund, Food for The Poor, etc... also can't leave eSig... don't have the right alternate provider YET and have paid them a lot of money waiting for them to correct their problems over the last three years... so it would be better if you take your energy and put it elsewhere... thanks... cj...
So should I take it from this comment that even though you seem to hate esignal, it's currently the best provider out there and in you're opinion, the best provider out there for the past 3 years??? Sounds like that's why they keep winning awards to me. Thanks for the input. Paul
I like their data feed... no compaints there... i think it is one of the best... its their Advanced Charting Software... If you try to do a number of things that would be no problem for a multi - threaded system you can't because it will overload your CPU, etc... which on other products you do not have that issue because they are well designed by proper planning and administration... their software is poorly coded because they have a big vision without caring about crafting that vision... their big vsion is not based on integrity but on a monopolistic point of view which inevitably will back fire on them as it has on so many companies who adopted that policy... as in they buy out Quote.com instead of using their cash reserves to upgrade their existing tools... yada, yada... anyway... so to say something positive - their data feed both the dde server and the index and stocks are fine... but their overall vision and definitely the integrity of their vision is sorely lacking... cj...
Agreed generally that eSignal data feed is ok, except for one glaring exception. They don't have the ability to end data input to 60 minute bars at the end of the regular market day (4:00 pm est). Instead, the first 30 minutes of after market data is included in the final 60 minute bar. I like to narrow my list of daily chart setups by checking to see if the 60 minute chart further supports the setup or not. But since you can't trust the high, low or close of eSignal's final 60 minute bar, that's not possible (without a lot of cross checking). And a couple of times I've missed entries/exits because I trusted resulting false support/resistance line on 60 minute charts. No plans at all to fix this in the next two releases I'm told. And I agree with your remarks about the software. It just can not process fast enough, regardless of your CPU speed or memory. Expecting Time & Sales or a 1 minute chart to keep up with RIMM or AAPL is just not realistic. They are not even trying to catch up to TradeStation in terms of such key features as Workpsaces and Radarscreen (there are many other shortfalls). I wish I knew if there were any features/abilities eSignal has that TradeStation does not. In other words, what would I miss in eSignal if I switched to TradeStation? davez
