ES trading: How many trades on avg to make a point?

  1. The way I see it, fee's + commission is a big part of ES trading.

I'm wondering how efficient your trading is. How many round trips does it take to earn a point?

Lets say for example you average 20 points a month. How many round trips on average does it take for you to get those 20 points.

Myself, so far, on average, it has taken me about 80 round trips to earn 30 points. Not really that good.

    How about you?

    Thanks for your input.

"Efficiency" is dependent on many things - your trading style, market action, trading plans, and so forth. What's "efficient" for you may not be "efficient" for Trader X, Y, or Z -- or vice-versa.

As a result, I daresay the "efficiency" of your trades (ie the number of round trips) is based on the efficiency of your entries and exits as the result of how you read the market and price action. The better you manage those, the better your efficiency and perhaps mean fewer trades you'll need to make!
