That surge to new afternoon highs around 1:57 EST on high volume seemed to target the VWAP (volume-weighed average price) on the 1-minute.

From my observations, the VWAP (405--405 minutes from 9:30 to 4:15) often acts like a pivot point.

Counter-trend traders who use moving averages as targets might want to consider putting that on their charts.
