It ain't just the big moves though. It's way too choppy, as in a 10 point rise followed by a 10 point drop, all within a minute or two.
It's not a good start for the new year 2025. Usually during the first few days of the year, the market would move tremendously. For today, ES only move a meager 30 points.
Huh? The 24 hour range of ES yesterday exceeded 120 points. If that's meager, you've gotten greedy over Christmas, buddy...
How long have you been trading? You said you've been doing this for a long time. Just curious because the current action seems to surprise you, although it's nothing we haven't seen before. If you know your market history very well, you should rarely, if ever, be surprised by anything which is happening in the market. Because what's happened before will happen again. This is true both on a macro and a micro level. What's happening today is a variation of a day which happened before. And there's only so many days to play before it's the same day coming up again.
You have to be Batman to interpret the cryptic and sarcastic posts by Max. Other than that, he’s a wealth of information.
lol no. Just explaining why I've been off this week. Yes there are periods where we go through the spike to drop days like we saw this week. I've seen it before. Just saying, I was surprised at the lack of V's holding, which you take for granted given last year. You just think it will always V in every situation. Anyways, looking like We are gonna pump today so a good day to get back on track. Bulls are not done fighting. If you look at the chart we have a stick save off the 50 day (QQQ). SO we will close at 515 today and DOJI for the week. WE still have yet to see any real damage. Yes we have the bearish monthly candle from last month. This market still fights back and will do so! This month of January is going to be a real battle. I think you can make money with many different methods this month.
Are we back to "good economic data" -- bad for stocks because they will not lower rates (and viceversa)? Edit: also, getting kicked out of all my longs at breakeven +/- 1 on the backfill volatility
ES is trading very "technical" I'd guess I'd call this. White line at the top of chart is last week's low. The green vertical line is the new york open.
