very nice day now! my YM's have come back in profit on average NQ killed it for me. ES looking good so far
Seems like you're doing well for yourself already, but for anyone else, you can actually build a trading model on buying the dip. Works great both in bull and bear markets. Master the dip. How does it look? When does it come? How big is it? Start buying with small size and once in a while add as it goes in your favor. Harvest.
It's been both a long four years and a quick four years. I got started back during the covid shut downs. Tried stocks and options. Lost money. Not much, but more than enough to discourage me from trying anymore. I don't recall how futures came on my radar exactly. Once it did, I felt that surely was the answer. I signed up with Ninjatrader and got a sim account and felt that once I proved I can make money trading sim, I'd fund my own trading account. Spent the next three years blowing and resetting my sim accounts (right click on Sim101, click "edit account," click "reset, "click "yes" lol I did that so many times I could reset a sim account blindfolded). By the time I felt I had something that would be profitable, the prop firm phenomenon had sprouted and bloomed. Why risk my money when I can risk someone else's? I may look like I'm doing well but keep in mind I am still trading a sim account. I do treat it as though it were real money though. The market since the fall breakout has really imprinted this on me. Hanging with you and @theapprentice has sharpened my "buy the dip" senses too.
I logged in to Ninjatrader to review my signals week to date while waiting for the family to wake up. Don't look now, @Picaso but not only is the ES trading but it is making new all time highs without us.
still holding nq. (not sure if i posed that one or not before? I basically got BACK in it near EOD after closing the prior nq long for +100 points or so. Got back in at a worse price than my exit lol. fomo!) That's all i'm holding for now so willing to just hold it in case we get a mega ramp towards 20600 or something and have plenty of room to add to it on dips now since I closed ES and YM longs for nice gains
The prop firm I'm with requires no positions in the market from 2 minutes before until 2 minutes after NFP release or you fail the account and have to start over. I'm staying in global sim mode until 8:32 AM.
Holding up fairly well here. 5620 is the number I'm looking at if we do rally on the Open. A flat NFP Open tends to rally, but one could argue we're a bit overextended here and already made new highs on the week, so not too confident. Maybe a retrace first. I'm already long from 92. But will stop out around 87 if that hits and see what happens.
