10x seems like an exaggeration. I've googled the hell out of this question (NQ vs ES) and the preferences I find from other players seems to balance out fairly evenly with some preferring either for various reasons. I also did my own preliminary research and have done some testing: Which markets or instruments are you trading? I think my own test-trading coincided with a period where NQ greatly outperformed ES with very strong one-way momentum moves, but I don't think this holds true long term. Sure, overall, it does offer considerably more bang for the buck, but I find that just like ES it seems to also get stuck in ranges where it's very noisy and with plenty of back-filling/retraces. I tend to find that ES behaves a bit more predictably and orderly where NQ in comparison may overshoot a bit and be more loose. On average, NQ probably offers better R/R ratios and more opportunities on any given day, though. With the current volatility, I'm happy to stay with ES as that's what I know, but if volatility should completely contract at one point, I'm sure it would be necessary to migrate to NQ then.
closing here +12. I will very likely regret closing this as I always do with long trades lol. But hoping for a 5-10 point drop to maybe get back in for the next run up. 4600 next? Then maybe 4666?? sounds like a nice number!
A little averaging in, eh? Good thing we're in lull right now. But be wary if you're swinging this. PCE tomorrow and Powell flapping for half the trading day on Friday.
In my view, it's always best to view 3 time frames when trading. For example, a day trader trading the 1 minute chart should make the 30 minute chart their focus for trend and then review the 5 minute chart for short term context and then enter and exit on the 1 minute chart. ----a 5 minute trader would look at the 2 hour chart and the 30 minute chart. -----a 15 minute trader would look at the hourly and the 4 hour. ---A daily trader would look at the monthly and weekly. ----If the trade is with the trend, you should be able to leave it alone and let it run with a trailer and if it is counter trend, a profit target needs to to be used.
