It comes with experience. Sorry to say, but your stats will never be able to replace 30 years of experience.
No need to get defensive. I was just curious if you were basing it on something or if it was just shooting from the hip. In truth, I think anyone who tries to make any grand predictions in this climate will make a fool of themselves. In fact, you called for 4205 as today's HOD and that was clearly not correct.
More precisely, this week's Open was 4121.25 which is where the market bottomed out today to the tick.
Can I say the same thing about you when we get up to 4400? But seriously, you're making a big deal out of nothing. Aren't we all throwing out numbers for the hell of it? We don't have to say anything but we do, mostly for entertainment purposes. Do you seriously think people will consider everything you (or I) say as legit, as if they trade based on our views? I don't think so. So let's not get so heavy on calls. If I'm wrong, so be it. Same for your calls as well.
No, because I'm not countering that prediction. I may even say myself that we're going to 5K, but a lot will happen between here and 5K. I'm not making a big deal. At least that was not my intention. I was just asking what you were basing your view on and you replied that your 30 years of experience were superior to statistics. My reply was simply that even with 30 years experience you got today wrong, so maybe it's not a certainty after all. And I think that's a good thing to keep in mind always. There are no certainties in this game. Only probabilities. Even a high probability scenario can fail. As for my own calls, I'm plenty wrong. I'm sure most people can see that.
My gut feel is this year will be a slow ascent, but the Ukraine war and China may throw a spanner in the works. The slow ascent theory stems from fear in the markets, more fear, the better it is for slow steady rising markets. So not long bars, ie not long up, not long down, good for investors, not really good for day traders. Just my 2c thoughts.
Why not really good for day traders? The market's are moving around plenty so far this year. Just like last year. I'd say it's one of the best conditions for pure day trading in a long time. For me, the volatility is nice now coming in at a medium pace. Not too wild and certainly not too slow.
