It was always about the wealth effect . To get inflation down you must destroy wealth . I mean stay down for a long long time . People must fear losing all their money and sell sell and sell more . It’s time for stocks to be hated . Of course it’s never straight down. They must punish shorts from time to time in the downtrend to take their gains away .
Not to sound too cynical but I doubt that will actually happen. Why? The wealthiest 10% of Americans own a record 89% of all U.S. Stocks. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/10/18/the...-own-a-record-89percent-of-all-us-stocks.html Who still believes Powell will be around this time next year? ✋(not)
Different subject, is this the next black swan in the making? The Chinese housing market has driven growth for the past two decades and now represents the biggest asset class in the world, with a notional value of between $55tn (£47tn) and $60tn, which is bigger than the total capitalisation of the US stock market. Now developers are going bust after being deprived of easy credit, prices are falling, homeowners are refusing to pay mortgages on unfinished homes and the slump in properties being sold and construction is crippling local governments that rely on land sales for income. https://amp.theguardian.com/busines...ies-to-fend-off-property-crash-global-economy
I don’t really think like that, but if I did, I could counter it with saying that Friday was possibly an overreaction. I just keep it technical and I know that these relentless trend days down historically have been followed by a counter-move just as often or more than they have been followed by more selling.
NQ hit 50% range, ES is not quite there. Bounces/reversals often take place at 50, but as I mentioned earlier I don't see this to be more than a bounce, if and when it happens. Happy trading!
Flat and looking at 28-30 now. If that doesn’t hold - probably 4000. But as long as 28 can hold - rally back to fill Friday’s gap at least?
Friday's action was a fresh sell signal so I need to let it play out rather than take profits at this moment.
