Another way to view it is in tics... MES is worth $1.25/tic, $5/point. So 1 tic covers RT at most brokers worth having a day-trading account with. MNQ,MYM,M2K each need 2 tics per RT... again at most brokers worthy of day-trading business. Agree, compared to mini's, all-in costs for micros are high, but not even close to preventative.
Agreed. Perhaps a greater descrepancy is with the options. MES options trade well enough during RTH, but the RT comms are also about $1, while my RT ES FOP comms are about 2.85. Roughly 9.50 vs. 2.85 in equivalency. Overall, there's probably more slippage with the micros.
While I trade micros from time to time, minis are my bread and butter trading. In my experience, and I've mentioned it several times, the slippage in micros is observable. It's not that there isn't liquidity, it's just that liquidity at any given tick isn't as thick as the bigger, and pricing is not always tick for tick to the mini... iow, micros have more trade-through and/or quotes on a given side not traded at all. Most easily seen with MYM, M2K, and MNQ. As for FOPs, on some level I know enough that I am NOT dangerous. lol. On another level, I know they have place in my arsenal. In particular, for my macro (monthly and maybe weekly) analysis. I can't see FOPs useful for me on a daily basis. Thanks for the chat. Good trades to you!
Me too... long at 82. Tried long at 92, went against me, luckily got out at 93 on a fleeting bounce! AM.
