Look at @speedo's chart from yesterday ... suppose you took the first short with a fill around 25.50 with 3 contracts, then you take the second short with a fill around 21 with 2 contracts, and then you take the next pullback short with 1 contract around 15.25 and then you clear them around 11.25 when the market seems to be reversing from the gap fill attempt. Your profit is: 3 X 14.25 points 2 X 9.75 points 1 X 4 points The reason you do fewer contracts on each add is because it manages risk beter: You will always have more profit in prior contracts than you loss should the trend reverse on your adds.
