You guys want something uplifting for Xmas? Here is a fact:

"every single Republican president has seen a recession during their first term since 1909"

This does not seem to fit in my head's shabby memory. Do you have a chart?

One does have to wonder though...

Considering the differences in lengths of the reps vs dem presidential terms, which administrations caused the trickle-down effect more than the other? And there seems to be skew in the numbers, such as the Roosevelt-Truman time where they list negative numbers, but the individual terms have majorly positive numbers. Something is awry with the thing.

Not to mention, wasn't it all about GNP back in the day? The GDP is a relatively new metric in economic status, yes? What would those charts show if measured in GNP?

It seems we had a decent 8-year cycle of recessions hitting until 2016. '92, '00, '08 and the market's were wobbly into mid-2015, then the rate hike cycle was about to hit (swoon in Aug 2015, follow-thru selling in early 2016), but then the rate hike cycle was delayed due to the upcoming election. So we postponed the inevitable for a few more years and it seems to be landing.

Could it be that every democrat president messes things up so bad that it takes every republican president two terms to get it straightend out so that by the end of their second term the democrats sail on into high water their first term fueled by republican success but by their second term things are on the verge of falling aparts so americans get scared like a lizard caught in a box by a cat and vote in a republican to fix the mess who then suffers a recession in first term and gets things in shape by second term and the fat lazy complacent americans now rolling in prosperity vote in a democrat...just for the heck of it...just to be contrary you know...so the cycle continues...OR IT COULD BE THE FED!

Politicians get undue credit when things are good and undue blame when they are bad...best thing they can do is go play golf.
