So was I in the ballpark with my estimate year to date P/L? We have to add another -25 pts to the swing losses... Also, since this is a highly unprofitable journal, why should we listen to you saying anything market related??? The so called tenacity trying to short a rallying market is also can be called stubbornness...
We finally have someone who gets it! I wish the trader well, but forgetting the results (hey, we all have losing trades, concepts, analysis), his arrogance and his "my way or no way" attitude makes it difficult not to remind him the journal is public, and therefore open to the thoughts and comments of others, accepting of his ways or not.
What is the point of using futures if you don't really use the leverage? You might as well trade the index... Couple of points: 1. The problem with under leverage is that the profits will be small too. Right now if you catch a 50 points gain in the ES, with your usual 2 margin that is only 4% increase in your account.* 2. If you are unprofitable, eventually you will lose it all no matter what, it will just take longer when under leveraged, but the pain will also last longer... 3. It is OK to use leverage as long as one knows the dangers and use tight money management (bigger winners, small losers, etc.) 4. Under leverage means your capital is tied down for no good reason. *Well, you are not in danger of that, but the point still stands
This is one of the most f-ed up statements I have ever seen yet about trading. Think of it this way... My bank is going to charge me 20 bux per month if my checking account balance falls below $500. (It's a fool's game) Your account drops to $480. They take out 20 bux because you fell below the minimum. (Their minimums are a fool's game.) So what did you do? "I paid the 20 bux to stay in the game." Why didn't you ignore their minimums? "I did. I played the fool and didn't listen, and they took my money". So $500 turns into $480 because you "played the fool's game?" Geez Louise!
The contention presented one posting prior is not a good analogy whatsoever and is not appropriate in this venue. I am well above exchange minimums. Trading with the bare minimum margins is a fools game of the highest order.
