I cut my position for -1 point. I am flat now.

    FX - 60% day and 40% holding >1day. ES - strictly intraday.

  3. Are you using tight stops now? Did the mini flash crash scare you?

Looks like I got lucky today. ;)

Mini Flash Crash - wow - thanks for reminding - that event showed me how fast someone can get their ass handed out to them in markets!!

Mix of tight and lose stops. Depends on trade to trade.

My most pressing project right now is to automate a lot of things. I am hoping to get it done by mid Feb.

You not trading these days? Whats the plan for future?

From the looks of price action, it has stabilized. Short side doesn't show much promise for today.

I am taking another cheap shot at short side. Short 1503, 2 pt stop.

    4-8 pts target

  8. Yeah. One mini flash crash could and probably did wipe out a lot of profits for people using wide stops. One abnormal events is all it takes and they seem to happen quite often these days.

I'm a full time student right now (mathematics and physics) and will probably complete a degree in engineering. I have not "left" trading per se, but I'm not actively trading as I don't have funds or time to devote myself full time. Full-time trading did not work out this time around, so I'm diversifying by getting back to school.

But I'm going to see if I can give the TST Combine one more shot after they eased up their requirements, trading 3 days per week or so.

    Good Luck Man!

An engineering degree is valuable and it will get you into a good job. Trading can always wait. Sometimes it is good to take a break.

I would also say don't think too much about TST and others. A solid engineering degree might open new doors for you - talking about prop trading firms. Mathematics/Physics is good. Learn to do good programming. Maybe 3 yrs down the line, you will be trading for a big firm.

  10. Thanks!

I'm most likely getting into the oil industry which will really open some exciting doors. I don't think I'm interested in trading for a firm. I'll rather trade my own account on the side. I like learning new things and I'm kind of tired of trading. At least right now. Proprietary trading is virtually non-existent in Norway anyway, but never say never...:p

I think TST is a good opportunity, especially now that they reduced their requirements significantly.
