There is something that keeps nagging at me regarding this little increase...Am I fucked in the head, or did we not have this same thing last year at some point? Before the trade war was a war but just a spat. I can swear that when Trump first started the tariff bits, he made some incremental increase threat?
I'm not sure. I haven't been able to keep it all straight myself. It took me about 2 hours to figure out if the November tarrifs were still pushed to after Christmas or if this 5% adder changed that.
Totally inane random music post in a random spot in a thread! Wheee! Sorry about that. Continue on with the thread. (I think that is fun, yes?)
If Pres. Trump uses this law, then yes, we could trigger the circuit breakers. https://apnews.com/be18b8619cde4658a418dda4f416968a
Shit, we almost had that in Feb 2018. 7% drop is nothing these days it seems. But this... "...The Consumer Technology Association called the escalating tariffs “the worst economic mistake since the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930 — a decision that catapulted our country into the Great Depression.” *le sigh* I picked a hell of a time to quit taking amphetamines. Sorry, but that tired line from the movie Airplane! seems so apropos lately, hehe!
Trumps addittional tariffs. These were unexpected and not priced in by Friday's close. His new and additional tariffs were announced after market close.
There are more things China can do to again retaliate. They can stop selling rare earth metals to US, and start selling treasury holding which will cause interest rates to rise and cause problem for US.
Saying stuff like this won't help at all. lol https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...42ea78-c67a-11e9-b5e4-54aa56d5b7ce_story.html
