I am waiting for the day he stops posting in this journal and we will all understand what happened to all his money. I was expecting it to be very soon judging from the way he trades but didn't expect it to be this soon. The excuse was the journal influenced his trading. Are you really that easily influenced?

Technically, didn't you also stop posting in your journal because you didn't do well? Perhaps the act of posting didn't influence any of your decisions, but I do still remember your journal ended rather quickly.

I do believe that there is very much of a negative influence with a public journal. Not to say that if someone doesn't post they would be profitable, but I think if you aren't profitable, and you're posting it, and people just reply with negativity, no matter how well placed it might be, it is still nevertheless an added pressure.

Why are you talking about my trading here?
How is it relevant in this topic of discussion, except to discredit me?
You can say whatever you want in my journal. Stick to the topic.

  6. May I ask ..in general what do you use in order to make a decision as to when to trade ?
Candlesticks and patterns ? Macro ? I think a lot of home gamers start with that and tune it as time goes by. then what ? hammers , head and shoulders one way or another .wedges and whatever...they work sometimes...trendlines are handy if drawn well. See how the ym stopped at the gap on the daily today..I keep an eye on things like that or the Vix approaching a previous support area along with the dollar . Throw all that stuff together and find more , there is always more and then watch your ES charts on multi time frames with YOU OWN reference points ..maybe fibs ..observe and experiment ..no two traders are alike..preferences and temperament. Don't be cheap with books..Steve Nison has good candlestick advice.
We could all be watching the same market and still trade differently.

Its 100% relevant. You are giving advice to someone else, almost calling them out for being influenced by posting in a public journal, as if they should somehow be less influenced, but you yourself haven't managed to put all the pieces together to make trading work. It has nothing to do with discrediting you, its just an observation. Trust me, if most people here were required to prove that they are profitable before giving advice, I'm sure this board would be quite silent. But its still I think important to put into context who is giving advice and what their own experience with trading is.

This is where you are wrong "But its still I think important to put into context who is giving advice and what their own experience with trading is".

My journal has been closed long ago. How do you know that I am not profitable now? Everyone who are successful today had gone through losses like I did, but that does not mean they are not a good or profitable trader today. You are using my past to judge me instead of my present. I don't want to dig into what journal you have or what your performance is like from your previous posts because I don't have time for that and I don't see the point. You are the kind of guy who finds faults in another to discredit him on whatever he says. And for you it's fun because you get to feel superior and nobody could judge you in the same way as you don't have a journal.

Actually, this is totally wrong. This started with you questioning the OP about how easily influenced he is by posting publicly. I was stating that I fully understand how this could be so and hence was backing him up.

I didn't saying anything I said to feel superior or put you down. You may very well be profitable now, absolutely right. But given the info that is available, I just call it how I see it, and what I saw was you calling him out for stopping this journal because he felt too influenced by posting publicly. If anything, since your journal ended with not the best results, I would figure that you would be more sympathetic to how much this game can mess with your mind.

Let's face it, listening to someone who has proven to be profitable is much better than listening to someone who isn't, correct? Granted, nobody on ET has a proven track record, and its usually the opposite. Many here have publicly shown to not be profitable. I just think its another data point to helping to figure out what to believe and what not to. It doesn't mean you're wrong with your viewpoints, but I've learned a long time ago that it doesn't matter what anyone says, or how anyone trades, its the results that matter. So I first like to start with the results first, and work my way backwards. If the results are positive, then it makes more sense to listen more closely.
