Equity Index Cd's

  1. Has anyone heard about equity index cd's. They suppose to be fdic insured and have a minimum and maximum interest rate based up various indexes like the s&p 500. I understand that HSBC sells them. Sounds too good to be true.

  2. Garbage, Those structured products guarantee principal but not return.

But you have to pay a load. ie to buy 10K of this "Principal guaranteed structured product" you have to spend 12K so technically your invested 12K and lost 2K right from the beginning (16% loss) it is one of those big three monte card games for the dumb lemmings to get sucked into.

But the person who offers this product will trade against you as well by taking short positions etc to insure you get 0 return all of this is on the prospectus documentation.

  3. Thanks for your reply. I'm not surprised at your answer.
