That's when the developer/builder cut corners and built the condo cheap. If the condo is built with concrete, you wouldn't hear the upstairs neighbour that much but you would still hear the neighbours next door or even at the end of the hallway because apparently sound reverberates through those concrete beams unless the developer/builder really used sound abatement gyprocks and stuff. The worst is when they do renovations with those power drills to remove tiles. Your whole entire condo literally shakes. But the worst in living in a condo is having your life and your finances dictated by strangers that you had no say in choosing. Hopefully I can live in my house until the day that I pass on and don't have to go back to living in a condo in my old age.
When I had a condo in Montreal about 15 years ago, everyone on the same floor shared the same ventilation system. So when the old lady two doors down the hall decided she wanted to make spaghetti and meatballs on Sunday, my entire condo smelled like spaghetti sauce with loads of garlic added. I love spaghetti but it's not exactly what I want to smell when I'm drinking my morning coffee.
I had that problem too with my previous condo except that the exhaust fan in the kitchen in each unit did vent to the outside (supposedly) but my neighbour across from my unit (very nice lady) loved to have huge dinner parties and invite like the entire family clan over and she was cooking, she would open her suite door so all of the cooking smells would just all go into the hallway instead of being exhausted to the outside and the door of my condo happens to face a ventilation outlet that pushes air into the hallway so lucky me I get to smell everything that she cooks. Whatever she cooks for her guests, I get to smell them the day before. LOL So glad I got out of that place. And good thing I sold that condo just just before covid. Otherwise I would've gone crazy if I had to be locked down in that place 24/7.
%% I hope you are right, but I dont know how well or problem free that development is. I hear more problems about condos+ FSBO, [+ time shares LOL]than any other real estate .
Timeshare is a scam. You basically pay for an empty house that you only stay for like 2 weeks in a year forever for the rest of not only your life but all of your future descendants' lives because you can never sell it once you buy it. Whoever came up with that scam is a genius!
%% LOL ,THAT ''genius'' scam accidently started a whole different industry ; Time Share Exit Team, Lynx Legal+ such but don't know if BBB likes them?? Hard to believe so many signed hi pressure contracts with no legal counsel@ all
