Liberals and religious believers are quite similar. One group believes an unproven entity exists while the other group believes unproven policies work.

If you mean pure socialism, you are wrong, very few liberals believe that is workable. If you meant modified socialism, then modified capitalism could as easily be substituted for conservatives.
