The options I was wanting to buy are triggered if the entry price you set off of L5 is hit. So if you get a fill, my market order for my option will be purchased. So, I'm doing what you are doing, just with options, really just trying to see how this works. We'll see what happens Monday! Forrest
Hi there Emintrader, I am a little intrigued by what you are doing, which appears to be well disciplined and relatively simple.....I say that as I am about to ask a couple questions for a better understanding of the format. I understand that you picked your 5 stocks simply because they met you volume criteria...were there any other reasons? As for the L5 calculation, I haven't got a handle on it, although I haven't tried too hard ,either. My 5 stocks I trade are HTS MO GDX PBR and COGO I realize that they may all not meet your volume criteria, but I would be grateful if you could give me the the L5 % 's so that I can follow them though your journal. Thankyou, NiN \
Hi forrestang, for the day of 2009/03/06 i don't understand why your market orders have been purchased (by thinkorswim i guess) because no entry price was activated. Entry price for 2009/03/06 : HCBK : 9.237 (high : 9.14) MRVL : 8.5327(high : 8.30) RIMM : 39.296(high : 39.00) JNPR : 13.563(high : 13.47) SCHW : 11.79(high : 11.54). Do yu have the same entries price than me ?
EMINI, I'm attaching a pic of my order screen, and of the spreadsheet I use. You'll see the spreadsheet, I just put the L5 and open in there. It gives me the rest. Did this to make placing my orders easier. Also, within TOS, I created seperate order profiiles per stock, so it realy only takes me about 5 miuntes to place all the trades. I enter an OCO bracket, so stop, entry, target and timeout are all there for me. Like you suggested, auto-trade, no emotion.
Hi Now is Now, I must to do a little work ! and for free ! But as you are the first to ask me such a request i accept Some explanations : 1. You can use just one of my stock i give you or two or three or all the five if you want. You are free. 2. Why do i use these 5 stocks ? well as i have a lot of choice here are the reasons : a. chance !. My approach well perform with any stock but some stocks have better results. IA mix of all these below reasons : b. Market : only NASDAQ, NYSE. And eventually other big places as EURONEXT... c. High volume : because of slippage. d. Price : High price is better even if it is not a big factor. Because of commissions. e. L5 : High L5. Because of better results. f. Similar L5 between these five stocks. 3. As you said, Daytrading is a hard way to win money (and first of all not to lose money !).My approach is SIMPLE (excepted for calculating of my L5 levels) but you must be very DISCIPLINED. 4. Be careful with stock "MO" if you invest in all of these five stocks. His L5 is very low in comparison with other stocks. I suggest you to replace it by an other stock. 2009-03-09 (For Now is Now) HTS : L5 = 2,0781% MO : L5 = 0,9954% GDX : L5 = 1,8413% PBR : L5 = 2,2245% COGO : L5 = 2,6087% Results : HCBK : None MRVL : None RIMM : None JNPR : None SCHW : None 2009-03-09: HCBK : L5 = 2,0661% MRVL: L5 = 2,8037% RIMM : L5 = 2,1212% JNPR : L5 = 2,1314% SCHW : L5 = 2,4329% Have good trades... Overall bilan : + 59,5568%
Hi forrestang, Very good work... I also use a spreadsheet for avoid mistakes and to put my orders very quickly in the system. So why do you lose money in your previous message ? I also prepare my order entry for each stocks i use before market opening. And it takes 5 minutes to place all orders. BE CAREFUL : options follow stocks, but not necessarelly in the same way, with the same intensity. BE CAREFUL : Thinkorswim are very good for swing trading or investing but for daytrading their commissions can kill you your business (5$ per order is very high !). Example : for 1 stock, my system can generate 120 signals. Your costs (without speaking slippage or mistakes you can make) = 120 * (5 * 2) = 1200$. With a capital of 12000$ it represents 10% ! Conclusion : your system must to win more than 10% per year before beginning to earn money. Have a good day, best regards, Emintrader and not "EMINI"

Hi Emintrader: I think the only one that made it (hit target) was JNPR, the other were losses (unless my computations that follow are wrong) Stocks: HCBK MRVL RIMM JNPR SCHW % 2.0661 2.8037 2.1212 2.1314 2.4329 Open Buy Stop Target 8.60 8.05 35.83 12.61 11.30 8.78 8.28 36.59 12.88 11.57 8.54 7.99 35.58 12.52 11.22 9.13 8.73 38.11 13.42 12.12 MRVL and RIMM missed the target before they tanked. It was a very difficult and unusual day. JNPR made it by a penny with a high of 13.43! Best! From the Safe
