Can anyone tell me if there is a way to hide active orders for the eminis (via globex) like there is for ECN's for equities.
I recall reading that the CME is considering the feature, but it isn't currently available. I think it would be a great idea. Institutions (or a programmer via the IB API) can already, practically, implement hidden orders with computerized order placement. If the CME added the capability and brokers passed it on to their customers, it would bring retail traders back onto a fair playing field.
Thats an interesting take. One of the reasons why i choose the eminis over the etf's are due to more openess of the bid and ask. Yes there are computer systems that reside outside of globex that can do a simlar job, but that because they invest in a third party system to do so. I don't think the answer is for hidden orders sponsered by globex. Frankly, the absense of market makers makes it a fair playing field.
