Maverick, Thank you, I tried your suggestion but my chicken oscillator still came out incorrect. If you happen to have an Ensign template, could I bother you to send it to elderhmp@hotmail.com ? MarkB, Thank you, I wasn't doing the MACD of the price but the MACD of the Accumulation Distribution. I figured that out from the definition I found of the Chicken Oscillator: "The Chaikin Oscillator is a moving average oscillator based on the Accumulation/Distribution indicator." Good suggestion about the google search, but that didn't work, I'll keep trying. Ensign does have a chicken indicator but as far as I know it's different from the chicken oscillator. I don't know about using the KFC index but I do remember one trader posting here that to reduce stress while trading, he liked to oscillate his chicken.
Thank you very much Maverick for sending the Ensign template, it works good. I took a short with the system at 11:50 for 1027.25. I wasn't too confident about the signals though. The chicken oscillator showed regular divergence and the ADX was above 30. However, as far as I would interpret it, the ADX was still above 30 from the leftover affect of the previous downtrend. The new uptrend wasn't old enough to cause the ADX to go above 30. Anyone have an opinion about this?
Hmmm, it's been over a month since we've seen a post from no_pm. I was really looking forward to him continuing this journal, or at least giving us some examples in the other journal he started about his other method. I know he was fighting an infection. no_pm, if you're reading this, I hope that you're feeling 100% better. I'd rather that it turn out that you just got fed up with us, instead of continuing to feel under the weather physically. Please post if you can, if only to let us know that you're okay. MarkB
I'm still kicking. This mono has been tough to beat. I got so weak I needed to use a chair just to go from my bedroom to my kitchen (stop and sit down every 6 feet or so). I tried to monitor the market but I just felt exhausted and either laid on the couch or went back to bed. I'm feeling better now (not normal but not death warmed over either), but I don't have much energy. I'm going back to the doc's on Friday for a test to see if I still have mono. If I keep getting a little more energy, I'll start posting soon.
You take care of yourself and know that our thoughts are with you, no_pm. Get lots of rest and make sure about the liquid intake. Been there. Mark
no_pm, if its any consolation, the S&P market has been completely dead while you've been away. You haven't missed anything, so take your time getting better.
Only if you're up to reading this and answering, no_pm: How do you feel about a potential entry where the first high in a divergence occurs when the ADX is slightly over 30, and the second high is slightly under 30? Or if the ADX dips below 30 between the highs, but is above 30 at both actual peaks? Thanks, hope you are feeling better. Mark
If you go back 1 page in this journal you'll see a post by no_pm on 9/23: Let's be patient, people. If and when no_pm wants to come back and post, he will.
While we await the teacher's return, has anyone been trading this system? I'm trying to take every signal and have logged 8 trades in about 3 weeks, but I didn't trade every day. There have been 5 wins and I'm up 12.5 points. I'd like to discuss with anyone else doing it and make sure I'm reading the signals right. Today's trade was the largest winner yet, 5.75 points. Unfortunately, I was asleep at the wheel and missed the entry. I put out a limit order, but didn't get hit. Short at 1019.0 at 10:20, ADX 36.3, K channel width: 7.7, stop 2.75 pts. Exit at 1013.25 at 12:00 Corey
