Somewhere back there we talked about posting variations to the system rather than start a separate journal. If I'm incorrect, let me know.

We talked about it right around the time that no_pm got sick. We didn't come to any conclusion, and unfortunately he wasn't around to weigh in on it.

Hmm, I wish the high I was selling off of in this divergence had been a little higher. Now that I'm committed I don't want to bail though.

Since I'm trading the NQ, the decision to short was a simple one since the ES was so much weaker.

There's potential support at 1028ES and 1380NQ, so we'll just have to see whether it breaks or not. I'm at BE, so I don't much care.

BTW, if NPP objects to the posts on variations, he could always ask Magna to delete them. I doubt he'll mind, tho.

And speaking of variations, those of you who don't have the proper Chaikin may want to look at the DMI itself, particularly since it's most likely plotted along with your ADX. This morning, for example, there was a lower high in the DM+ and a higher low in the DM-, both of which diverged from the price.

I got out at BE. After all this time, and the bottom Keltner coming up, the risk/reward just wasn't worth it.

  6. Has anyone managed to make the chicken oscillator work on Ensign? Ensign doesn't have a chicken oscillator so I tried the MACD oscillator of the accumulation distribution. AD set for 7 and MACD set for 3 and 10. However it comes out different than what I see posted from NPP.

    almostatrader,

I don't think you'll have the best results with MACD on this. You might want to try CCI or even slow stochastics. Perhaps someone else knows whether Chaiken is available on Ensign. Does it accept imported indicators? If so, run a google search for Ensign and Chaiken. But I don't think you're looking for Chicken, unless you would like the KFC index :)

I see now that I could have held that trade longer. Oh well, after 3 hours I was happy to get out anyway. But no_pm's method did work, even if the risk/reward went out the window on this one. That is, if I did it right in the first place.

  8. almostatrader... try changing the accum/dist study average from 7 to 1....i used 3/10 exponential for MACD, fwiw... as far as i can tell, looks pretty much identical to NPPs, but you might want to double check that...

    good luck

I got turned on to this thread kinda late, but spent last week reading it and taking notes and think the system looks solid, so I decided to give it a try and took my first trade today.

I've got cme data now, so signals are from the big contract. I'm using esignal and have both chaikin oscillator and moneyflow to compare them. My Keltner channel uses an ema rather than a sma as no_pm has indicated he uses. I downloaded the efs from esignal's website, but haven't figured out how to change the code. Don't know if this makes much of a difference.

Short at 1030.75 on the 11:30 bar (eastern time), stop 2.75 pts. Covered 1028.0 at 3:11pm.

Sat in this trade all day, but just put my stop in and ignored it until it got close to the exit price. I think I read the set up right, any comments?

    lescor,

Looks to me like you did just fine. I was in the same trade, just wish I had held it as long. As I said above, I got concerned when the risk/reward got dicey, so I bailed at breakeven. Also the 3PM Consumer Credit numbers were about to come out. Next time I'll know better. You're a good lead to follow!

    Welcome to the thread,
