  2. Does it have the Money Flow Indicator? The 20 period looks pretty similar to me.

If I mis quoted I do apologize! BTW TRENDS by their very nature must be few, or less they're just chop. In other words a ridiculous statement would be "This spring was tough for trend trader's, there was only one!"

  5. yes, 20 period instead of 14.

It seems to show divergences clearly.

Here's the entry from yesterday showing the divergence.

  6. After 230. No trades today. ADX is hanging up there. Maybe we can get a early morning setup for Monday.

Sierrachart has money flow so I am looking at this on European markets. Thanks for sharing. I am using IB data but as they don't put out every tick would I be missing some of the volume? You look at the s&p instead of the emini. Wouldn't the emini be beter for money flow and chaikin oscillator as the elevtronic contract would have more accurate volume data with every tick?

  8. This is a great divergence method. Again, nice job no PM. I am really enjoying your posting. Then again, musicians are a worthy lot with a good heart. Telecaster man myself, cried when Duane Allman got killed. Been working on an "Elizabeth Reed" trading system, not finished yet. :p

Seems like some of you are discovering divergence thru this thread. Some experimenting a little. I would like to give an idea for those interested.

If you are fortunate to have a dual monitor set up this is easier to see. If not, just split your screen in two.

One side set up no_PM's system and the other side set up the following divergence system.

Plot slow %d stochastic in the main price window. 5, 5, 2.
Below in sub 1 plot MACD signal line only. Set it for 4, 13,1 or .80, .30, .50 whichever your platform accepts. Now plot the same keltner and deviation. Follow no_PM's system, but filter the trades by getting the same set up on both systems.

I have my indicators set up so they plot "colors" on the divergence. I have been backtesting a little on the YM with this and it looks very good. When you get both divergence based systems set up at once, it is a great signal.

Hope I am not throwing things off track. Not my intent. I have just added this complimentary method to my trading as a way of confirming and filtering. Thought it seemed appropriate to post.

I have read some of the posts asking if it works on other indexes. I think the YM looks pretty good. You can be the judge. Also, you may choose to take some of the divergence signals on this set up when the ADX is not quite above 30. Anyway. Again, nice job everybody. Worthwhile input from everyone.

Here's a chart of my set up. For instance on 8/13. There was a good divergence set up on the sto/MACD at 2:30 pm even though the ADX was below 30. Just some food for thought.

    JHmethod likes this.
  9. Also, one thing I do is have a workspace set up with the same divergence indicators thru the following time frames:

    • 8M
    • 21M
    • 34M
    • 55M
    • 89M
    • 144M
    • 233M

Many times divergence will appear on the 144 or 233 and these are usually strong signals that help identify trends.

When you get a divergence signal on the 21 or 34, then trade a pullback on the 5M in the direction of that trend, even though you don't have a signal on the 5M. This will give you confidence on trending days.

  10. VisionTrader,

Have you changed your stoch and MACD settings since your journal,
(which I read every single post and
thank you very much for it)?
I have my VT charts set at 6.5.1 stoch
and 4,13,1 MACD. Did I set them
    different from you previously?

    And to no pm....continued thanks.
I too do not have the Chaiken OS
and was trying to make the Chaiken
money flow work with your system.
I had set it at 10 with a 2 smoothing
and was close, but I see the 20
    is better.
