The last 2 I saw were in midtown and upper east side.

Wonder what was Musk rationale of not putting solar panel on the roof and let the sun charge the car as well.

  4. Upper East Side also figures. Just look at zips 10021, 10022, 10013 and an adjacent zip or two and you have 90% of those in NYC.

  5. My niece's boyfriend has a Tesla in Manhattan, in his condo building there are like 4 Teslas( I saw them in the building's garage). An electrician who was setting up a charging station for some of these owners as we were walking from the garage to the main lobby told us a number of condo buildings in NYC are presently installing or planning charging stations for these cars. The reason for Tesla's popularity in NYC is not surprising. Gas is very expensive in and around NYC, plus getting to a gas station in the area is a royal pain in the ass.

  6. Completely overrated car and lots of bs comments so far:

    * Fared very poorly in most professional tests. BBC sports car program (one of the highest rated and most respected shows, as well as Top Gear (same applies)

    * Spent 2 weeks in California (Bay Area) and a week in New York and the Tesla rate in New York is nothing compared to the number cars I have seen per day in the Bay Area. The popularity in New York is totally over hyped and so is it in general, have seen 3-4 teslas in my 2 weeks in the Bay Area, and I drove around quite a bit.

    * An electric super sports car is an oxymoron (= a car for gays!!!). Its like a harley with an electric engine. Gee, if you must do drugs then do drugs but do not sniff glue. Enough said.

    like what ? Subaru ?

Seriously if you hang out in well off european districts, in sports cars you'll see Maseratti, Ferrari, Aston Martin, lots of german cars and the odd Koenigsegg and Bugatti (usually when there are rich arabs around). Quite a few bentleys and a little less Rolls in high end cars as well, but not sure they qualify in this thread, especially the Rolls.

Non european cars like Subaru or Mustang are very rare.
