No. Because to do that, you have to give someone or some group power to regulate speech. Slippery slope. Instead, the good voices and good speech will overpower the bad speech. For the violence, do what Nextdoor does and require people to register their address / ID to sign up for the site. That does not have to be public information, but people will self-regulate if they know they might be held legally liable for their claims. For lies, the current system is still broken. Most politicians would not be on Twitter if they banned you for lying. For example, Biden claimed in June or July of last year in a speech that if you get the Covid vaccine, you won't get Covid. That got retweeted many times and Twitter did not correct him.
This is how disinformation propagates, I'm sure this tweet is gonna become a viral meme even though inaccurate. 83.7 million families in the US x $100k = 8trillion, three hundred and seventy billion dollars $1.75 trillion dollars in US student debt His current stake is $2.68 billion. yay, free speech (sarcasm)
I appreciate your though process and as you state political rhetoric is the exception when in fact it can yield the greatest influence. DT's and inner circle claims of election fraud being the most salient.
%% YOU maybe right; didn't FB lose many members?? I seldom mess with thier FB mess. But good multi-month downtrend\bear trend on FB.........................................................
> do what Nextdoor does and require people to register their address / ID to sign up for the site. That does not have to bepublic information, It's a good reason never to join Nextdoor. You can't have information that is not public in the hands of a corporation, because security leaks will eventually make it public. Secondly, it's one step towards surveillance/authoritarianism. OTOH, Reddit is relatively anonymous, yet it is less toxic, and has much more intelligent discussions than FB or Twitter. Of course they achieve that through 'moderation', but it's more community (subreddit) based than centralized.
hahahahah All the employees will quit on principles. Imagine the horror.... Trump getting his Twitter account back. I bet they take the money before they quit though.
