Because people are too dumb to figure out what's true and what isn't.

I see gwb-trading liked the post. I think you misunderstood. That was sarcasm. People (en masse) are plenty smart enough to figure it out - IF (big if) they are exposed to ALL sources of information. Politicians and activists on the left keep trying to limit that exposure only to what they consider appropriate.

Well Musk is certainly changed his talking points when he found out that all the advertisers will immediately flee his vision for a "free speech" platform.

Musk doesn't seek a “free-for-all hellscape” for Twitter
Elon Musk is telling Twitter advertisers he is buying the platform to “help humanity” and doesn’t want it to become a “free-for-all hellscape” where anything can be said with no consequences.

Elon Musk on Thursday fired at least four top executives at Twitter as he closed his $44 billion takeover of the social media company, The New York Times reported.

Two people with knowledge of the situation said that the Twitter executives who were fired include Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s chief executive, Ned Segal, the chief financial officer, Vijaya Gadde, the top legal and policy executive, and Sean Edgett, the general counsel.

    He's overpaying...

Elon Musk is being forced to pay almost double for Twitter when its ‘only worth $25bn’, expert claims
    https://www.the-sun.com/tech/6540075/elon-musk-forced-pay-double-twitter/

ELON Musk is buying Twitter for nearly double what it's worth, an industry expert tells The U.S. Sun.

The acquisition deal between billionaire Elon Musk and social media platform Twitter is expected to close this Friday.

Musk offered to buy Twitter earlier this year for a whopping $44 billion – and then backed out.

But after Delaware courts got involved, the Tesla CEO is being forced to go through with the purchase.

And now, experts are saying that Musk is paying more than double what the company is worth.

"The $44 billion price tag for Twitter will go down as one of the most overpaid tech acquisitions in the history of M&A deals on the Street in our opinion," Dan Ives, an analyst at Wedbush Securities, tells The U.S. Sun exclusively.

Ives said his company, a prominent LA-based investment firm, currently values Twitter at around $25 billion.

"With fair value that we would peg at roughly $25billion, Musk buying Twitter remains a major head-scratcher that ultimately he could not get out of once the Delaware Courts got involved," Ives adds.

  10. i think you all got this wrong..

first of all, he is overpaying significantly for this and that will start to cost him bigly...
second, he will need twitter to be a revenue monster to pay back the investment and that means catering to advertisers and making sure they dont flee from twitter to competing sites.

Elon is no con savior freeing up "free speech"... he is a billionaire who overpaid for as toy and now he has to keep it profitable and if he does not sell out quickly, he will lose hundreds of millions.
