It took me a while and I took advantage of forebearance and deferrment the first few years but I paid off my student loans later on when I was making real money. Most places dont care if you take a while as long as you are paying something. There are plenty of options out there to manage the load the first 5 years out of school, especially if you work in the public sector or have an entry position that is not paying enough. But if you chose a fucktarded major and come out of college with no employment opportunities because Fortune 500 companies have no need for a History major with a minor in Viking literature, well that shit sandwich is on you.
90% of what happens in your life is based on the choices you make. I would rate this as a really dumb choice... Adrienne Naylor turned 34 this month. She has a stable job at a university in Cambridge, Mass., where she lives. She has a girlfriend she loves. But she does not feel like she is getting any closer to buying a home. Ms. Naylor remembers her guidance counselors in high school going on about how much she would make if she went to college (a lot) versus what she would earn if she didn’t (much less). So she borrowed. And then changed colleges. And borrowed some more. Then she got a master’s degree in history, with a focus on managing archives and records. Now she has close to $300,000 in debt. An Archivist gets a pay level of around 32000 and 48000 based on tenure level. Archivists will normally get an average salary of Forty Six Thousand Six Hundred dollars annually. Archivists have the highest salaries in the District of Columbia, where they can get average compensation of close to $74320.
I read this morning that 70% of college debt is held by women. If that is accurate, that is shockingly high.
Another point is students that went to private schools versus public school hold on average ~1/4 more debt.
True, and these kids are making some bad choices, but we also must address who is assisting them during this process? AAA is correct in stating we cannot let the system itself off the hook. These kids are being told all through high school that college is a must, nothing else is acceptable. Teachers and guidance counselors giving incomplete and in some cases bad advice. Then we have the college admissions reps who are giving very incomplete detail of what the student loan process really entail down the road, and in most cases not giving them any detail at all. It's just foll out these forms and get the guaranteed money, done deal. We can ask where are the parents. In many cases the parents have no knowledge of how this process works and both they and the student are completely dependent on the college admissions departments. Bottom line, the post secondary education system is a scam from start to finish. I'm not saying we shouldn't hold people accountable for their decisions, but young and inexperienced people deserve better guidance than they're getting. In the end it's about the money to keep these leftist shitholes in operation to further engage in the political indoctrination of our youth..
You know you whitewash all universities as leftist shitholes but your doctors, lawyers, accountants, etc who add plenty of value to your life (even saving it or keeping you alive) all went to university to study for their profession. Not everyone in college is taking political science class and getting indoctrinated.
Most of those doctors, lawyers and accountants, after starting to make money, realize that their indoctrination was horseshit. Thankfully.
