Wasn't the term "quatloo" used by the brain people in an episode wherein they were making Kirk fight some other aliens gladiator style and he won, but refused to kill the other aliens? I never got into the next generation series so I don't know about the Ferengies or however you spell their names.
picard was a much better star-ship captain than kirk. kirk hot-headed, flew by seat-of-his pants, but to his credit he pulled his fat out the fire when required. picard was refined, educated, and upper class. picard was ivy league, kirk was "public" all the way
