It's not a company I've ever seen in person as I'm over in the UK but some of the stuff I've been sent by rs of houston looks reasonable. They may be worth a look as they seem to teach a simple methodology. Anyone know anything about them?
I believe there were some complaints against RS of Houston,, here is one of them http://www.cftc.gov/enf/00orders/enfrsofhouston.htm I just went to his website and it looks to me like a scam.. JMHO
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote from nkhoi: he does, twice a week for free. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Can you provide more info? LOL....nkhoi... We meet twice a month. 2nd and 4th thursdays 6:00 pm to 9:00 but I have been stopping a little early. Much to my regret, Liz had to drop in last meeting and excuse me. We had one visitor from Houston and the group ( Tucson IBD MeetUP (#75)) now agrees anyone can drop in from anywhere. They are really nailing the market; two cycles between meetings and they have super lists..... I think we are going for the pace in equities of around 400% ROI. Several full time traders and lots of very earnest efforts. The commodities stuff is coming up. We are rereading (LOL) Larry Harris chaptrs 10 through 10 through 13. the context is IBD IT trading and doing the natural cycle inside the IT. Everyone is running over the 10% per cycle and they have been introducced to crossover trading but not doing it yet. They have the money velocity down in the sense that their hot list are really tuned to HOT and they do not hold past the peaking money velocity too long. Ohh..... they are able to work in small sub groups and critique each other during the in between meeting intervals. The quiet ping pong lady who nailed 19k plus 9k on 40k capital during one two week period is gaining some recognition in the group........lol.... It is a nice group who are nailing everything in site...lol Tucson is a small town and has a nice university (UA) and a great medical aggregation (Weir among others) and some star gazers and Mars machines that worked. So we ramped up in about 3 months and we are going for the gold now at their request. It is my feeling that 16 hours of me over a couple of days is all it takes to roll. I mean really roll. It is just that I can't do anything like that at this point. When I do the judging for the business school competition; it is sort of a two day thing after 36 hours of their prep (not mine) and I am wiped afterwards. I am transcribing now and so........
Blimey!!! I said I though they looked okay because they keep emailing me with charts of "live" trades called in their monthly training sessions. I guess these guys are all the same. THOSE WHO CAN DO, THOSE WHO CAN'T TEACH. By the way, I notice their settlement offer was to pay $10,000 and a slap on the wrist. If that's all crooks get for defrauding people, it's hardly any surprise that they do it.
RS of Houston is in the same class of scamers as the WizeTrade software. Total bs. lots of $$$. At least the Traders Expo offers free & semi-free/cheaper seminars with people like: David Nassar, Tony Oz, *Robert Green (*greentradertax-com), and Linda Raschke. Like them or not, at least I've heard of these people through reputable media & organizations, which is something you really can't say about most of the people offering "Pro" trading seminars and courses, namely RS of Houston. **Never heard of him myself, but have heard his website is a pretty helpful tool for people looking to start a hedge fund. Again I personally don't know too much about him (as I'm not involved in the starting of hedge funds) but multiple sources/acquaintances say his site is helpful... grain of salt maybe? I dunno...
I am not a shill I just believe in the law of reciprocity so here goes....... Take a look at Traders International out of Houston http://www.tradersinternational.com/. I have heard good things about them, no bad. My trading buddy saw Franz Shoar trade live at the Vegas Expo with an audited statement in hand and he was making serious money, with a large account. I asked my broker about them, he knows alot of people and courses, he has heard nothing but good about them. They aren't cheap by any means though, but appear very professional. Also consider Todd Mitchells e-mini course tmitchell.com. I bought his course, I returned it and got a refund, less shipping. It looked good, but the timing of my purchase was bad, nothing against his product though. That being said I am not using or purchased either as I have hired a 20 year pro trader to mentor and teach me. Hopefully I have helped someone a bit and maybe you can help me in the future if I have a question on the forum. BTW stay away from RS of Houston, I have heard from several whom bought their course that they were disapointed. Sames goes for Steve Matrix, he got busted by the CFTC too. Dan
Several comments after reading through all those messages ..... I have been defrauded with a managed future account. The money lost was amazing. It was considered one of the safest (max. 2% drawdown per month) and was recommended by a reputable full services futures firm. They lost 20,900% on one investment (yes, that is twentythousandninehundred percent). They were writing naked calls on natural gas futures. That margin call knocked me flat on my ass. I have never again invested with any kind of fund. Instead I decided to learn to trade myself. I couldn't have chosen a harder path but I didn't feel like I had a choice. Now, to the CFTC's credit, they did find out about, investigate it, and I got some money back (on condition of non-disclosure of names). The CTA giving the signals got a slap on the wrist and a $10k fine. He has a started a new CTA. That CTA was never mentioned anywhere (like futures magazine best/worst performers, etc .....). I guess my point was the $10k fine since someone mentioned that before - it is just a business expense for those guys. I have attended 2 seminars last year. One was by Linda Raschke of LBRGroup (www.lbrgroup.com) and I am a huge fan of hers. Not easy, lots of studying, and their alerts (of the live chat) have a lower win/loss ratio of late. LBR has turned me consistently profitable despite my occasional screwing it all up again with lousy money management. Originally I signed up for one month and studied everything on their website which is a lot of material. Then I joined her once a year seminar which was something in the vicinity of $3500 for 3 days if I remember correctly. I also remember that the month following the seminar I had a 100% win loss ratio. Of course, as soon as I started bragging about that - that changed. The course is not enough though (for me anyway) and I had to subscribe to their live chat for further learning and let this stuff sink in some more. Their strength is: - high probability setups which they often re-evaluate with serious quantified backtesting (Linda has several people working in the background on this stuff) - live trades with good trade risk management - excellent for newbie learning. - some knowledgeable people in the open chat which is also excellent for learning. The other seminar I attended was put on by the Woodiescciclub (www.woodiescciclub.com). It was free to boot. But here goes: - I know some of his setups but I have never managed to trade it profitably over time. This is because I have never found out a working trade manegement. Each of their moderators seems to use a different way and that becomes a statistical problem in my book. Their way of trading should skew the numbers in the trader's favor - but alas, not for me. However, it just might be me. They are very nice and helpful people, but it seems that part of the euqation is for me to discover. The only time I have traded Woodies CCI method profitably was when I combined it with LBR's way of analyzing the market. But with LBR's method I could get more out of it as they enter the trade more aggressively (like on a pullback) rather than on a breakout. Cheers,
No offense trainr, but I don't want to give out their name. They are a small IB in Chicago and I could see them getting inudated with questions about TI which is going to hurt people like me on customer service side. If you are interested in Traders International then call them up. They offer something like a free trial week in the web room. Franz was down big at points this week I heard, but he made it all back plus thousands. I heard from I guy who was in his free trial room, at one point he was done real big today, but he made it all back. He scales in and out trading a 1mil plus account everyday. I don't believe most of his students trade that exact same way because they don't have the account size to do so.
