    There are several of them in Europe, but the main two are NordPool and EpexSpot

    That's what I'm trying to figure out. I know it's legally feasible, the major limitation being bank clearance and very deep pockets as mandatory security.
    I know people that have tried to do do so, but the key thing is what type of product would attract people

    Futures on electricity contracts are going to be more and more volatile as you get more renewable energy in. You can't have the same guaranties on delivery with Wind and solar that what you would get with thermal power plant

    European Energy market is the most volatile, particularly the day ahead and spot. Prices vary by 10-20 folds within a day.

    1y contracts shouldn’t be volatile day over day. I just signed a power contract for a factory and it was crazy. Each day the 1y fixed price was moving by 5-6percent per kWh
