Just odd---Polling was good in FL, GA and TX but nowhere else.

  2. The polling was way off in FL. Nobody had DeSantis by 19 points. They had him at +12 for the RCP average. The polling was good in GA in all the elections.

Polling is not about getting the margin correct. It is about gauging momentum. Polls showed momentum ramping up for Republicans and then when the election happened, the momentum swung to Democrats in the states mentioned but not in FL, GA and TX --and NY now that I think of it.---Really doesn't make sense and seems off.

Things only make sense if Republicans win otherwise there is a huge conspiracy that needs a complex explanation for which you have no evidence.

It will be a lesson going forward for them to stop talking about Trump's BIG LIE, develop a real plan against rising inflation, rising crime (facade of blaming Democrats), and the rising cost of living instead of enabling new laws to slow down the vote count because they wanted to make sure there's no fraud.

I see a key difference not discussed enough...the Republicans lost (as in they died) many more voters in the Covid Pandemic than the Democrats. In my opinion, it's another big variable in some of these very tight races.
    • The misinformation/disinformation about the Pandemic/Covid/Vaccines, conspiracy theories about Vaccines, payback threats by McCarthy while kissing Trump's ring, and promotion of Trump's BIG LIE have come back to bite them on the ass big time...voters had enough of that bullshit.
Lastly, the Libertarian Party won a few percentages of votes in some key states. They are more culturally liberal than Democrats, and more fiscally conservative than Republicans...the latter is a big issue considering the economy was a big issue for the mid-terms.

Thus, the Libertarian Party could become a big issue in the 2024 Presidential election just as the Republicans can not bring back their Covid Dead voters.

P.S. The dramatic increasing global excessive deaths due to Climate Change will be a growing political issue considering the United States is warming faster than the global average.

This seems out of character for you. You're a good guy I think. Have the election results really gotten to you this deeply? Turn off the news, get back to the non-political parts of ET. Take a cold turkey break from any exposure to political news, opinions, discussions. We all need a break from it from time to times in these times.

The Cooke Report had many of these very close races categorized as Toss-ups. So their polling was pretty good this cycle. You have to be careful whose polls you follow. Some pollsters are notorius for making the R side look stronger than it is, and some for making the D side look stronger than it is. Polling is getting harder and harder as landlines are disconnected and pollsters calls get sent automatically to cell phone voicemail.
