The fact that this wasn't a crushing red wave as it should have been does mean something.

But why do you say "as it should have been"? Two months ago, people were calling a blue wave because of RvW.

I beg to differ, they know what to say: it's rigged! It's stolen! It's fraud!

  5. Historical trends are the president's party getting crushed in their first midterms. It's like a 30 seat swing on average. I think Roe v. Wade was definitely a factor and could have prevented a major blow to Democrats. In a wave, there were some awful Republican candidates in 2010 that prevented them from getting even more seats. However, they cleaned up their act in 2014 and minimized the crazies, doing about as well as I thought they could do. Now in 2022, it seems worse than 2010. They're simply running way too many poorly qualified/conspiratorial candidates. In crucial swing states too.

Many would agree with you. However, most see that attack as coming from your side of the field. The GOP has consistently eroded individual liberties and remains opposed to the expansion of liberty. The GOP is actively trying to make it more difficult for people to vote. If a party actively campaigns against individual liberties and actively campaigns to restrict access to the ballot box, it is an extremely hard sell to me that that party is not anti-democracy.

The mystery for me has been how do you and other GOP supporters not see this?

What exactly do you see as the Democrats "attack on democracy?"

You know historically the party out of power wins these midterms. With an economy like this with inflation, gas prices, uptick in crime and a president with low approval ratings republicans should have crushed The Dems this year.

The party out of power gets back into power. And if the Rs win the house (which is likely) then we have exactly what historically happens.

Yeah, I don't get this. Make it more difficult for people to vote? You show an ID. You vote. The whole process took me 5 minutes last night. Took me longer to park.

And before you get on this whole "not everyone has an ID" I can show you video upon video of people asking minorities whether they think this is a valid complaint, and minorities on the street saying its crazy. And no one is complaining that you need an ID to buy cold medicine. Or to get on a plane. Or any number of things.

No one is pushing to disenfranchise voting.
