I am rooting for Joe to stay in. I am definitely not interested in opening that Kamala can of worms unless we have to. And if we do, we do. She is a loser but the dems gravitate toward losers and they have a massive get out the vote machine. Plus they have a massive pent up demand for an opportunity to rally around someone who is not Biden. They keep their words guarded for now but if joe were to suddenly leave it would explode and Kamala would be the recipient. If it were a full term/full blown primary I would not be concerned about it because she would grow old real fast- just as she did last time- and there would be other more qualified contenders in the race. But in some truncated, rigged anointing of Kamala where she is the only red meat tossed out there and lefty dems go to the polls in a trance state like lemmings, and having been gaslighted into believing that Trump is Hitler- well, I would not wish for that just yet. Doesn't mean she can't be beaten, just that right now Joe is the proven loser so he has my full support. Anyway if Joe can't be moved out, the usual suspects here will be smirking about how old Joe held up and the conservatives could not move him out. Nope, he is right where I want him right now. He is the gift that will just keep on giving.
"All in the Family" was on one of the TV's tonight. I think comcast went down and the rabbit ears took over. Classic Archie quote: "The President said he's gonna fix inflation... no matter how much it costs."

President Richard Nixon knew the US gold reserves are dwindling and going to be depleted as the US spent more than it took in. Other countries were redeeming their US dollars for gold, figuring out that the US was ripping them off by spending more than the US gold reserves. It was their gold that is being used. Even now, foreign countries with gold stored in the US are taking their gold back to their countries. They know better. In other news, both China and Russia are increasing their stash of gold bars in huge amounts.
But if we hadn't done it, someone else would have. Could we have won WWII without printing money? And then I guess the snowball kept going. The gold standard was largely abandoned during the Great Depression before being re-instated in a limited form as part of the post-World War II Bretton Woods system. The gold standard was abandoned due to its propensity for volatility, as well as the constraints it imposed on governments: by retaining a fixed exchange rate, governments were hamstrung in engaging in expansionary policies to, for example, reduce unemployment during economic recessions.[9][10] According to a survey of 39 economists, the vast majority (93 percent) agreed that a return to the gold standard would not improve price-stability and employment outcomes,[11] and two-thirds of economic historians reject the idea that the gold standard "was effective in stabilizing prices and moderating business-cycle fluctuations during the nineteenth century."[12]
Hey Tree, you know who's name hasn't come up as a possible Veep, at least I haven't heard it, is DeSantis. Is he out or could he be a possible Trump surprise?
I don't see it but he is not out until he is out. More likely, in his neighborhood, would be Rubio. I an rooting for Burgum so I am no longer objective. Trump will keep him in his inner circle even if he does not become VP so no big disappointment on my part if he does not get it.
Biden puts a shot across the bow of the Democrats trying to force him to step down from campaigning. He basically told them to F off... but in politically correct language. Biden sends defiant letter to Democrats says time to end questions, come together He tells them the party needs to unite in order to beat Donald Trump. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/biden-sends-letter-democrats-time-questions-end/story?id=111742809 In a lengthy letter to Democrats, President Joe Biden on Monday says it is time for the party to come together so it can have the best chance at beating Donald Trump. "The question of how to move forward has been well-aired for over a week now. And it's time for it to end," Biden says. "We have one job. And that is to beat Donald Trump. We have 42 days to the Democratic Convention and 119 days to the general election. Any weakening of resolve or lack of clarity about the task ahead only helps Trump and hurts us. It is time to come together, move forward as a unified party, and defeat Donald Trump." Biden, noting that House and Senate members are returning to Washington Monday, appears to be trying to head off a growing number of Democrats either saying he should step aside as the party's presumptive nominee -- or are continuing to question whether he needs to do so. "Now that you have returned from the July 4th recess, I want you to know that despite all the speculation in the press and elsewhere, I am firmly committed to staying in this race, to running this race to the end, and to beating Donald Trump," he writes. "I have had extensive conversations with the leadership of the party, elected officials, rank and file members, and most importantly, Democratic voters over these past 10 days or so. I have heard the concerns that people have - their good faith fears and worries about what is at stake in this election. I am not blind to them. Believe me, I know better than anyone the responsibility and the burden the nominee of our party carries. I carried it in 2020 when the fate of our nation was at stake," he says. "I also know these concerns come from a place of real respect for my lifetime of public service and my record as President, and I have been moved by the expressions of affection for me from so many who have known me well and supported me over the course of my public life. I've been grateful for the rock-solid, steadfast support from so many elected Democrats in Congress and all across the country and taken great strength from the resolve and determination I've seen from so many voters and grassroots supporters even in the hardest of weeks," he continues. "I can respond to all this by saying clearly and unequivocally: I wouldn't be running again if I did not absolutely believe I was the best person to beat Donald Trump in 2024." Striking a defiant tone, he says, "We had a Democratic nomination process and the voters have spoken clearly and decisively. I received over 14 million votes, 87% of the votes cast across the entire nominating process. I have nearly 3,900 delegates, making me the presumptive nominee of our party by a wide margin. This was a process open to anyone who wanted to run. Only three people chose to challenge me," he says. "The voters of the Democratic Party have voted. They have chosen me to be the nominee of the party. Do we now just say this process didn't matter? That the voters don't have a say?" Biden adds, "I decline to do that. I feel a deep obligation to the faith and the trust the voters of the Democratic Party have placed in me to run this year. It was their decision to make. Not the press, not the pundits, not the big donors, not any selected group of individuals, no matter how well intentioned. The voters - and the voters alone - decide the nominee of the Democratic Party.vHow can we stand for democracy in our nation if we ignore it in our own party? I cannot do that.I will not do that." This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
