And the democrats are saying they won't have any debates now? I can't say I'm surprised.

Debating the crystal woman and the vax kook doesn’t help anyone. Maybe if Biden had a legitimate challenger you would have a case but as of right now no debates.

I’m not surprised either. It’s pretty much the norm that incumbents don’t have debates.

    2019 rules:

    Crystal lady:

I'll be honest, I have not tracked the DNC's debate rules for when an incumbent is seated and don't really much care as the institution just appears to exist to shield their preferred candidate and therein lies the problem. Joe held up just fine against Trump in the debate stage and still has his moments (SOU speech) so why not galvanize slipping support by debating those who he's losing momentum against?

As a side note, I don't much care to see a self help guru in the oval. I've called Williamson the crystal lady before but could not quite find justification for it.....I think it lies on a quip by Colbert that the media ran w/it and it stuck. She may have responded to said quit on a tweet either ironically or seriously as the tone hardly transfers over text.

You can’t claim a lectern at a nonexistent debate!

    i get you're trolling but:

Just run Kamala if we're stuck with business as usual. Why put ourselves in a Gingsburg/Feinstein/Reagan situation w/Joe's mental decline? What if he drops dead weeks/days from the election?

This discussion is just silly. No party is going have debates against their incumbent. It’s just not going to happen. Last time was Jimmy Carter and it sunk him.

So clearly things were more democratic during Jimmy's time. Sux that it went bad for him but I don't see why the incumbent should be shielded from critiques of weakness in their administration. The presidential term is 4 yrs, not 8.

This is the type of thinking that leads to conservative super majorities on the Supreme Court. You want to argue as though there is no downside to being high and mighty while the republicans exploit every advantage to kick in your teeth. Smarten up.
