The longer DeSantis dithers the worse it will look for him. I get there is a school of thought that says DeSantis will get in the race and take on Trump at a time of his choosing and to that I say baloney. He can wait to announce but to just get dinged day after day without a response makes him look like he can’t take on Trump. Ron D needs to get the ground up under his feet and meet the challenges of the day.

No doubt about it. Even if DeSantis somehow manages to get state control back over Disney Trump is still going pretend like DeSantis got out maneuvered by Disney. And the more DeSantis will have to explain the more he is not attacking Trump and the more Trump can attack DeSantis.

DeSantis is trying to lose weight and laugh off allegations about eating pudding with his fingers while Trump is clobbering him.

Honestly surprised he's not throwing meat to his most deplorables by adopting "meat ball Ron" and hitting him for being of Italian descent.

no doubt. Visiting Israel for photo ops. won't do him any favors if he keeps looking like a pussy that's afraid by not announcing.

That’s another thing, the Republican base is becoming more and more isolationist. Support for Israel is not as rock solid as it once was.

  6. As discussed, all the points that UsualTard makes have merit.

Nevertheless there are other factors at play as well. The reality is that the primaries are a state by state food fight with each one having its own quirks. Generic national polls may or may not line up in way that "they are supposed to" when it comes to state by state realities.

Yes, Trump is out front and that looks formidable when viewed from the national polls.

But it is equally true that DeSantis, an unannounced candidate who has not even started campaigning, is currently ahead in the polls for Iowa and tied for NH. That is not pretty for Camp Trump.

Trump is a tough one to predict because he is subject to major disasters. And then you have to figure out how much they impact the voters down on Main Street versus the hard core maga's. He will run bold and strong for the first part no question. Then you wake up someday, and holy Shiite, what's he stepping into today.

There is the argument that Trump is no longer the guy who "could shoot someone on Broadway and still get elected" or however that expression went. I think he has elements of that remaining amongst the hard core maga, but that it is gone for many pubs now so he will not get as many free passes as he got when he was a rising rock star in 2016.

    We shall see.

  9. The issue is trump is getting a running head start to dump all over Ron and it worked amazingly in 2016...the question is whether his shit has gotten tired in 2023 and 2024 and will prove useless. Me thinks this could be true and Ron's best play is to ignore all of it (which pisses off trump more) and simply let trump fire all his shots early like he does with Melania.... Ron stays above it while trump keeps digging a hole. Hillary tried that in 2016 and it didnt work, but this is a different trump.

So I think trump is polling ONLY because people love to hear him speak daily but not necessarily really voting for him. Polling leads to trump because he is talking the most so naturally he is on everyone's mind but I think it is like the freak show outside a cirus... we stop to stare and look and point but eventually move on to the big show.

I think Ron has Cabinet position written all over him but he is not ready to move up to teh big show. Much like the dems, GOP don't yet have the new start set to step up but it is early....

  10. It's rather super early to begin the attack ads but if they stick, Ronnie is done.
