'It's over': Chris Christie predicts Mark Meadows will prove 'deadly' to Trump Chris Christie says "it's over" for Donald Trump and he knows he'll be convicted, and that's why he's struggling to remember Joe Biden's name and forgetting which city he's visiting. "I think it's the stress of what he knows is coming in his criminal problems, and I think this week, because a lot of that was from the last week," Christie said. "That's all post-Mark Meadows. Everyone watching needs to understand, from somebody who did this work for seven years, you don't give Mark Meadows immunity unless the evidence he has is unimpeachable." "I want Republican voters to understand this," he added. "What's going to be happening in March, he'll be sitting in a courtroom in Washington, D.C., with Mark Meadows 20 feet away from him, saying, 'He committed crimes in front of me, on my watch.'" "Look, this is a guy who was velcroed to Trump's hip for the entire 2020 campaign and all the post-campaign nonsense, so this is deadly," Christie said. "It's done, he's going to be convicted – it's over.
Can't claim any political astuteness here... twas obvious. He'd do well in Hollywood though if they needed to typecast someone with a Presidential "look". He did have that. I bet he withholds his endorsement. Especially if it comes down to Nikki and Ron vs. Trump.
Tim not delivering. There is no ambassadorship or admin position for Pence to align himself with Tim. Tim has a good personal story but his job so far in the campaign has been to demonstrate some gravitas especially since his resume is thin. He has not done that. I put out the welcome mat for both Vivek and Tim, but they do have to deliver as the weeks go. Just the way it works. Pence and Nikki go back a ways and were both governors, and they both share high points and low points with Trump. Nikki is gaining more than a bit. And after the Iowa caucus is over the highly popular female governor of Iowa will come out and back her, giving her another leg up. Some viewers may think I am tooting Nikki's horn and that she is going to be on a roll. Nope. Just sayin what is going on. The landmine that Nikki has to deal with- and it is sizeable- is that if she takes DeSantis down, many of the DeSantis voters will go over to Trump rather than to Haley. Thus widening Trump's lead even more. Yikes. Not much of a reward for taking Desantis down- if it happens. The Glen Youngkin scenario is out there and would blow both Desantis and Nikki out of the water if he ran or dliute their votes considerably. But that virginia election is only a week away so I will let the dust settle there first. He has an extremely narrow, narrow window to make a move. And if he doesn't, he doesn't. But desantis and haley will be watching plenty.
Democrat Challenger Goes Into Full Attack Mode Against Biden Biden is “down 9 points in the ABC poll nationally. He’s down in 5 of 6 battleground states. His approval numbers are almost at historic lows,” Phillips said. “He’s poised to lose the next election to Donald Trump.” He then shared “50% of Democrats, even more, want a different nominee. 83% of Democrats under 30 want a different nominee.” “He beat Trump by about 40,000 votes in 2020. Anybody who can make the case to me that he’s in a better position now than he was then, then we’re living in different worlds.” Democrat Challenger Goes Into Full Attack Mode Against Biden (msn.com)
What will he testify to? That he told Trump he lost? It doesn't matter. What matters is what Trump believed.
So is what Christie said true? That if he gets convicted and (hypothetically) gets locked up shortly thereafter, it's done for Trump? Game over? I thought somehow he could still be in the running, behind bars or not. I suppose in reality he can just keep appealing beyond the Nov 2024 vote at least. I'll tell ya what, Tree's Rumsfeldian moments.... next year is gonna be a trip to say the least.
He can be behind bars and be president. He will be convicted on any case that goes to jury. Appellate level perhaps including SCOTUS is where the cases will be won unless they are thrown out prior. He can pardon himself on Fed charges and although not tested, it is my view that he can also pardon himself on any state charges owing to the Federal Supremacy in The Constitution.--So, he won't be behind bars after becoming president.
This is one of the major dilemmas that Youngkin faces. He has quite a few big donors who have more or less bought into his argument that he needs to see the outcome of the Nov. 7 election before declaring his intentions, even privately. The downside, though, is that Yougkin is on an extremely short leash now. If he does not give the signals shortly after Nov. 7, then donors will start going ahead without him. If he does not run then the next discussion will be about who he will be supporting- if anyone before the general. Republican mega-donor Adelson met with Haley in Las Vegas -sources (Reuters) – Casino billionaire and mega Republican donor Miriam Adelson met in Las Vegas with 2024 presidential candidate Nikki Haley, who has been rising in the polls in key states, over the weekend, two sources briefed on the meeting said. The previously unreported meeting during a gathering of Republican Jewish donors is likely a positive sign for Haley given Adelson’s status as one of the pre-eminent Republican donors.
