Election 2024 Foreplay

  1. Nope. DeSantis doing the right thing in regard to this Stormy Daniels thing.

Stay out of it or even side with Trump- as Pence has- and say that the whole thing is seven years old and a Soros district attorney who should be focused on New York crime is just doing a politically motivated prosecution.

DeSantis is not an announced candidate. He is the governor of Florida. Nothing in his current job requires him to enter into Trump's legal problems in a personal matter in New York.

That's how he wants to play his cards You would retort by saying well that means he is getting steamrolled and will never respond to anything. DeSantis would argue that he is only a few points behind Trump and is not even announced and that he will enter the race when he decides, not when you and Trump decide.

    Smart turnip…
All upside, no downside. If Trump pushes back he just redoubles his condemnation.

So if Trump gets indicted then his plan is to hole up in Mar-a-Lago and force DeSantis to send authorities to arrest him and extradite him to NY. The whole picture is certainly not pretty for DeSantis from a political perspective. Shortly he may not have an option to sit back and not get involved.

Prosecutors could put DeSantis in 'an unenviable dilemma' with a Trump indictment: NYT

Donald Trump Has Set a Trap for Ron DeSantis
There are many on social media who are demanding that all Republicans rally to defend former President Trump. Ron DeSantis needs to pass.

Blah blah blah, Trump wouldn’t care if it was 7 years old, he would attack his opponents with it. There are no sacred cows or off limits anymore in the Republican primary. You’re playing by some old rules that Trump is not.

The man is allegedly about to get arrested while running for president. Hello? It’s the perfect time to dislodge him. There won’t be many more opportunities.

  7. Okay, and what has Trump won lately?

  8. Bunch of hype in that article about "desantis having to approve an extradition."

    Pooh.

Florida has an Attorney General. They know what the customary procedure is for interstate extraditions and will follow that- either at the AG office level or at the district attorney level. Whatever their process is.

Trump will have the right to challenge the extradition in court, and the court will decide.

DeSantis has zero need to get involved.

All those scenarios in that article are just theoretical hype anyway.

  10. Yeh, whatever. The same polls that showed Trump winning in 2020 and showed a red wave in 2022.

I asked you what Trump has won lately. Polls are not exactly a "win." They are a "some people think you might win."

So let's try this again, shall we? What has Trump actually won lately where there are actually prizes- such as a public office? Note: Indictments don't count as a win either, even if you get more.

I am very Trumpian. I like winners- not losers.

Also, those polls are subject to interpretation. They show Trump - an announced and running candidate and a former President with total name recognition- as being only slightly ahead of an unannounced - not totally known candidate. How zippy is that for Trump?

One candidate lost the last race he competed in. And one- DeSantis- won a major victory in his last race.
